Coming to a police force near you soon?

That S60 looks great.
UK police force have gone BMW-mad. Who would have thought Volvo becoming the desirable, cool brand and BMW making what er..they're making at the moment.

If you're bored of the current German offering - who can blame you - this is a nice alternative, although there is the Alfa Giulia..

I had a deposit down on an estate from one of the first delivery's into the UK, discounted (fully loaded +towbar) for 51K I bottled it as the previous ones dropped like a stone and bought a 2 year old S6 Avant instead, the Volvo is still a pretty car and love the odd ball choice

Understated and not a bad looking car on the same level as the equally handsome skoda superb, but give it two years when depreciation has really kicked in.

I thought Volvo were imminently limiting all their cars to 112mph or something daft?

That aside, this looks very nice and I’d be tempted. I like the M340i, but BMW have lost the plot with their latest models. The new 3er is probably the pick of the range styling wise, and even that looks fairly awful. The C43 is just not competitive on a PCP deal vs the beemer (and Merc dealers are awful) and the Audi is diesel.

Get the PCP or lease deals right on these and I could see them selling.

Ah yes, the proud successor to the worst car of 2003 and its follow-up, the performance car so great that they changed the entire powertrain with the facelift.

In all seriousness, you’d have to be daft to buy this as a sporting alternative to something like the S4 (and I’ll admit that’s not a car that piques my interest). You’d have to be equally daft to buy it as an alternative to the regular T8, which does the plug-in hybrid thing just as well for a significantly smaller outlay. Furthermore, the compromises in terms of suspension and power won’t matter one jot given how these are likely to be used.

I’m sure I’ll see a few of these here around the Gothenburg area, and like with their predecessors, I’ll quietly ask myself “Why?” every time.
In the UK the BMW/Audi/Merc cars have a bit of an image problem not suffered outside it.

People will pay a premium for Alfa/Volvo/Lexus in the UK just to avoid those three german badges.

Regardless of how handsome their cars might be, having owned three of them in the 1980s, I would never, ever own another one. They were three different models, and none lasted more than one year. These were the most troublesome automobiles I could ever have imagined, built like crap and meant to stay that way should have been their motto. Wouldn't take a Volvo for free!

You do realise the 1980s was quite a long time ago. The world and Volvo have changed quite a bit since then...

Anyone else remember this? https://www.pistonheads.com/news/general/volvo-to-...

This new performance/power approach seems rather at odds with ^^^ ?

Exactly why I bought a Volvo. Well built and comes without the attitude on the road.

That is magnificent. I'd love one of those. Interior will be lovely, too.

Those performance stats suggest that it is awd.

Hugely over priced and based on a platform that is outclassed by the competition in standard trim, 57k for a 4pot Volvo S60 do me favour.

I'd prefer one over the equivalent Audi or Bimmer.

Right, so all the M sport and S-line BMWs and Audis are all making use of their 'sporty' chassis are they? Why does buying this have to be an alternative to an S4 or the like? Some buyers wouldn't even entertain the idea of an Audi or BMW in the same way you wouldn't a Volvo. Just because someone has an imagination and wants something different from the usual tedious german ste doesnt make them 'daft'.

Anyway BMW should hire some Volvo designers, thats for sure.

Does look infinitely better looking than the German offerings.
