£2500 over top thread... but I had to share this, and at this price, I am honestly considering it as a daily driver. I can't think of anything cooler for the money, would I be right in thinking it would be a monumental disaster from beginning to end?

Well it’s lasted this long, with the correct maintenance and care I’m sure it could do another 30 years!

It’s a fine looking thing. What’s the worst that could happen?

(Have you got a fuel card)

That looks like a black Mercedes CL in the background. Buy that instead, get it in tip-top shape and I'll swap you an LS460 for it in a year? laugh

5 brave pills for that, but incredible MOT history to be fair. It must have been lavished!

Do you have a warm, dehumidified garage?

What do we think - average of 10mpg likely?

I have a heated garage, and a large dehumidifier... I really wouldn't care about fuel, but I would definitely care about it breaking down often, or simply requiring a four figure bill every few weeks. hehe

I have always thought (ever since having a toy one as a kid) that these Daimlers are the perfect automotive shape.

I've always loved this era of Jaguar and Daimler too, and think the shape is just about perfect. That is another of those cars that I'd buy if I had somewhere to keep it. Go for it!

I'm measuring my garage... (might as well get used to the surroundings, if I buy that ^^^ I'll be living in it).

Bloody hell,

I managed a full suspension refurb on the W201 of about £750, including a rear subframe refresh by doing it myself. I would definitely be looking at this route myself if that sickly Alfa was mine (notwithstanding the advice above to scrap it).

In better news, that Jaaaaaag is the dogs doo-daaahs.

Being pickier than I would normally be (but for £7500 I would be) I much prefer the Jaguar grille to the Daimler one. And I prefer to see these in a colour rather noisier than silver.

Other than that, it's an absolute stunner, and if fuel isn't a worry, and it isn't rusty, then there's not that much else to worry about.

I'm fairly sure I've seen those pictures of that car before and it wasn't any time recently.

As you say the colours are lovely though.

Had a long chat with the garage, very friendly bunch. Turns out the immediates are before next MOT (May) rather than don't drive it until its sorted. So some time to think. Made the point it drives well and engine is sound, so its just a question whether i like it enough to do what is necessary to sort it.

So, treat it like a shed or move it on seems to be the options!

Thanks fellas.

But can someone please explain this whole green digital clock thing to me?!

I very much hope the car gets fixed tomorrow..... Then forecourt shots on Wednesday (along with THAT rear armrest, of course wink )
Can't wait to see these. I'm currently going down this route, chopping in the Saab 9-3 for something more wafty. Any opinions on this anyone?

Aside from the naff wheels looks half decent. It's currently between a 460, GS300s or possibly CLS350s? Petrol, auto, preferably not ruinous..........anyone any better ideas?

GS300: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

I would possibly go for the GS450h but put off by ten year old hybrid batteries.

Agreed, colour aside that looks absolutely tremendous, not a mention of corrosion during its last 15 MOTs, confidence inspiring indeed.

A few of those items sound very expensive for what they are, I assume it's "just" a normal V6 and not a cheap GTA?

Horrible wheels. Excellent MOT history. Excellent colour combination. Good price. Get it.

Then fight with E65Ross like KITT and KARR

Facebook Marketplace tempting me again. If I didn't have one already I would be tempted by this. Just look at it!
A 370bhp supercharged v8 with 11 months MOT. 148k. Yours for £2400.

MOT history doesn't look as bad as I was expecting.

It's a normal 2.5 v6, which sound expensive? Perhaps I should just drive it until something breaks and see how much a non-specialist will charge to get it through its MOT. Apparently the welding is the price it is because of where it is the wiring harness will need moved and carpets removed, or something.
