Any more details?
yeah - any more details?
;-)
Yes. Is it nicer than the one Ross has just blown his emergency holiday fund on invested carefully in?!
biggrin
I did think "I wish I knew this beforehand" laugh

I fortunately won't have to dip into my holiday or emergency funds either hehe

Just popping in to say the kebab and jetski analogy has made my morning. Top hole.

But really want another Jaguar XJ!
Try an X350? Decent ones are mid to high thread now and while it's not as good a Jaguar as the X308 or X300 it is a much better car. No tin worm (except for fuel tank straps...), the engine issues are all sorted, and it really is a much much better drive than the older cars. It's a testament to how good they are that that mine doesn't feel even remotely wallowy or leaden after my MX5.

Ross, welcome to LS460 ownership - I have had mine for about 13 months now. It is the SE-L and is one of the biggest and best specced cars i've ever had. I have the original brochure for mine and there was very little optional stuff on the SE-L on account of most things being standard, from memory only a heated steering wheel was an option.

Some of the standard kit on mine; 2 x TV's, DVD player, wireless headphones in the rear, heated and cooled front and rear seats, electric rear and electric side blinds, champagne fridge, mark levinson stereo which is the best i've ever heard in any car, probably quite a lot of other stuff I cant remember as well.

I bought mine as it was one of the few cars I could fit 3 x kiddy seats across the back. I have just put it through an MOT but do now need to sell it as I use my S600 TT merc daily and the V10 M5 on weekends.

Let me know how you get on with it.
Will do. Mine also has the ML stereo which sounded good. Although the B&O stereo my old man had in his M6 beforehand was definitely better (but it was around a £5k option IIRC!!). Mine has pretty much all of those options you mention I'm sure, including the heated steering wheel. It doesn't have radar guided cruise though, I'm pretty sure it doesn't have the self-parking system either, but it has the reversing camera etc. I just hope it proves to be reliable and relatively cheap to run. I know it's not going to be like the Corolla but not E65 levels of bork would be nice biggrin
I have the radar cruise and it is pretty good, not sure on the parking system, reverse camera is standard I think.

In 13 months mine has needed a set of front brake pads (£500 supply [genuine pads, spring clips etc] and fit and VAT), in an equivalent period my e65 750i cost something like £2k to run, or possible even more.

Indeed. All SUVs have the whiff of ungentlemanliness. No exceptions.

Sorry.

A saloon is a gentlemanly conveyance, or a large estate for those with antiques and large, affable dogs.

Hmm, it’s interesting how this thread has altered with regards SUVs, almost following the trend towards soft-roaders in the wider market, albeit sticking to genuine 4x4s with largish engines. I don’t think there were any SUVs until a couple of volumes ago, and to get unquestionable gentlemen such as CdeG commenting favourably on the ML is a badge of their respectability. I’m a MB fanboy, even if not a gentleman, so wholly agree with him; I don’t really “get” Japanese barges, but I’ll confess to liking the Toyota Kluger posted a few pages back and again more recently (are they US built?).

I am aiming to draft the advert, clean it and photograph it over the weekend.

headline points are 2006 LS460 SE-L (LWB) 135,000 miles, comprehensive history, mica grey with black leather, big wheels, ALL the spec. Paint has a few marks. I'd like around £5k for it.

A8 posted earlier, judging from the switch gear, it looks like a hippy has had a short back and sides.

Longtime lurker but as I'm soon to be in the market for another barge, I thought I'd pop in and say hi.

Looking forward to E65Ross finally picking up his LS460. Fingers crossed it's all sorted!

Looking for some feedback from those in the know. I've had several X300s and X308s but never an x350. How do they compare? Ditto the LS460 compared to the LS400.

X350/358 has all the best bits of earlier Jags, minus the irritating minor faults (save sagging headlining), plus more gadgets, space, performance, and better economy. Handles well too. Don’t bother with the diesel.

Thanks etypephil. I will be getting behind the wheel of a 4.2 v8 non supercharged next week and am looking forward to it!

I do still enjoy the trouble free wafting the lexus provided. Maybe that as a daily and the jag for the weekend? laugh

Good summary. Not as much character as an X308, even less so than an X300, but a much better car. The V8 versions are surprisingly brisk, and the V6 petrol provides perfectly reasonable performance. The diesels are slow, not good on fuel, and prone to catastrophic problems.

Common faults:

Rusty fuel tank straps (£100 - £150);
Dead aux electric coolant pump (£60 for a bosch pump that you can fit to the Jag bracket);
Blocked heater matrix so you get cool/cold air on the drivers side (£500 at a specialist?); and
Corroded earth points that come off (make a new earth stud, fairly easy DIY).

Other than that it's the usual old barge issues - suspension wear, aging cooling system, ZF gearboxes that don't enjoy 150k with no oil change and so on. I think they must be the most bork free car Jaguar have made to date.

Thanks stickleback123.

I'm due to have a drive in a 4.2 v8 non supercharged next week so I'll keep a close eye on these issues and any invoices for work relating.

Off to see this at the weekend. Big miles but have garnered a warm feeling from correspondence with seller.

Wish me luck.

That LS430 looks like a good buy for £2k. Hopefully it drives well and has been well maintained smile Forecourt shots of course wink

We best be careful, this thread is turning into a bit of a Lexus-fest. Just had another message from the dealer saying he should be able to let me know more details around 4pm smile

Looks lovely, especially for £2k.

As long as the service history is up to scratch, it should be an excellent deal! Good luck

High mileage and a little scruffy, but cheap. Forget the forecourt, here's the money shot:
