So have just sorted insurance with another company
Battle of *******s are strange had insurance with them on my Omega for years was not happy with cost of the they gave me to transfer it to my X350, I said I will let it run out, was only about a month left, they gave me loads of stick about not having 2 insurance policies blah blah blah.Tyre pump thing looks good. I was tempted as sometimes need to top the bike tyres up and photos show a bike wheel but reading the blurb it only goes to 48 psi which is not enough for my bike. Will continue with my 200 litre 10bar compressor for the cars but worry that is overkill for the bike and will stick with track pump for that.
In other news today, My 22 year-old Lexus I bought that was recommended in this thread around 2 years ago passed its MOT today with no advisories. Garage owner commented to his tester man a few times 'waste of time checking that' and later told me he has only ever seen 1 Lexus fail an MOT in his station.

Not sure if we've had this? Just under thread max low mileage 760i......
You got me excited....that's "just" a 750i.Not sure if we've had this? Just under thread max low mileage 760i......
But I have been put off E65s somewhat. They are truly brilliant barges, and they are fairly sharp to drive considering what they are....I'm not sure if they are all like my old one but bugger me they can be expensive to run.
322 miles done in the E320 W124 tonight - over 10k since I bought it.
As I am on 6 points I followed the speed limits for the first half. Later on the in journey I was less bothered and let the car make some pace - polite and disciplined people travelling quickly on the A50 tonight. 90-130 is the natural zone. Very pleasant indeed.

Our motor vehicles still afford us glimpses of freedom, 90-130 is an excellent motorway range of speed. As I am on 6 points I followed the speed limits for the first half. New car day I haven't been excited about buying a car since the E65 which would have been almost exactly 6 years ago, maybe a bit more. I certainly wasn't excited to pick up the Corolla
It will be interesting to see what he says RE the mirror - if it's an expensive fix I'm thinking he'll say "How about we knock £100 off?".....whilst it's not an issue which really bothers me, i know it could cost several £hundred, and so I could be an arse and say "nah, just get it fixed" Not sure how much it's worth to me really, in reality probably not more than £150.

Dont know if you answered it before but Ross, why did you get rid of the BMW, which model was it and was it reliable. I have a 645 which seems to have various issues. I love the car but it is not greatly reliable.
I got rid of it because I was saving for my first mortgage and wanted to put a fairly hefty deposit down. I was commuting 50 miles/day in it and the running costs were getting stupid. I think in an 15 month spell I spent around £6000 (admittedly that did include around £1k for new tyres).Reliable? Yes. It never actually let me down, but it had lots of issues which needed attending to to keep it maintained....oil leaks, suspension work, brake lines and dynamic drive lines, gearbox servicing, airbag warning light, and lots of other stuff. It was a lovely car but it kept throwing issues.

I can't remember the last time I drove over 90 MPH. Even if I wanted to the traffic rarely allows.
I think I just touched that on my way back from Devon last month in the Toyota. The engine is a bit buzzy at those speeds I think it does around 4500rpm (ish) at that! LS460 does around half that E65Ross said:

If you turn off the “mirror close on locking” function, you wont know one is broken...

Good luck with the collection Ross, there's nothing quite like the first drive of a new car. <PH Mode>Well, apart from a debauched session of coke and hookers.<PH Mode>
Hope all goes well (I'm confident we'll hear about it either way).

And take solace that if a dicky mirror is the most pressing issue on a car that someone else has lost over 90% of its original value on, then that has to be some kind of result.
A nugget of info: they are allegedly quieter at a 70mph cruise than a RR Phantom. It was on the internet so it must be true.

I am not sure about that, I would be surprised if it was quieter than a Phantom. Either way, I'd rather a Phantom A nugget of info: they are allegedly quieter at a 70mph cruise than a RR Phantom. It was on the internet so it must be true.

It sounds similar to my 645. Expensive to maintain. Most likely the same car underneath etc. I need 4 doors so toying with an 730d or maybe a lexus now.
The 6 series is based upon the 5, not the 7. So yours will be very similar to a 545i underneath rather than a 745i. The engine is obviously the same and that seems to want regular 4 figure bills thrown at it. I suspect the 7 will be heavier on suspension than the 6er though.Cheers
Good luck Ross! I am sure you are looking forward to getting back in a barge. 0-60 in 5.7 seconds is quick: https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/lexus/ls/firs...

I had one. All I can say is that I'm pleased with my decision to have had BMW Mondial warranty. Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
