To which rules do you refer?
I thought the general PH rule is no links to your own car your selling?

If there is no such rule for this thread, my car certainly fits the thread title: mid thread budget V12 BMW 760 biggrin
Very smoothly done old fruit. Got any pictures of said motor for general interest purposes?

General interest pics:

The back is the nicest place to be in these cars, I've only been a passenger a few times in the back (when I've had to much to drink) and those few times makes getting the long wheel base so worth it! Adjust the seat to full recline, heated seats on, blinds up, instruct driver to wake me when we arrive at the restaurant (which is actually beg SWAMBO to swing by Kebab van on the way home to complement my stomach full of ale!)

An engine bay shot....... well it is pistonheads and this is a V12 wink

My big dilemma is replacing it, the newer 7 series 2010ish are not yet in thread budget and anything I buy will be slower & less refined, although i do like the look of the Lexus GS300 some one posted scratchchin

What's the reason for selling? Is it the smell of kebabs permanently toasted onto the heated rear seat and stuck in a crevice once straightened from a reclined position?

A fairly loaded R500 at the link below, don't know if it will stay in budget but I suspect there's a decent chance that it could

That's with Sterling Cars, on the basis of just reading their ads/bullst. Not a fan
Fair enough, don't see many of these about though hence I thought it might be of interest.
I spotted this too; whilst it may have fallen into the hands of an unromantic stock shifter, the colour is unusual, the interior light, there are dvd screens and the MOT history is clean. I would and... I may.

EDIT: The bid history to date has been littered with a number of sub-3* rating bidders...
I'm pretty sure they'll shill it up to what they paid at BCA + a smallish margin... Doesn't mean I wouldn't though, it's likely to be pretty cheap.
Agreed, though it's just not cricket
The R500L auction ended. I was keeping an eye on it on the restaurant table, whilst tucking into a Rosa's Thai in Tooting, trying to talk myself into it. It was sat at £2,250 until a bid came in with seconds to go. £2,649.99 - I think that it's a good one.

Been written off by insurance following a prang I think.

Forgive my eyes Tommo, but I can't see the damage at all in the pictures. Perhaps worth a separate, clear one?

Its not that bad if you sit at 70ish on cruise control (so good luck doing that on any uk motorway apart from 1am when its empty!) you can pick up mid 20s, normal driving around towns you wont get into the 20s!

No real reason for selling I just want a new (to me) car. So put it up for sale for just over 6K, drunk driver reversed into it, insurance wrote it off. Couldn't let it go to a cowboy salvage outfit, so got the car back and selling in its damaged state.

Damage wise for insurance job it would be head light bumper and wing. Real world fix would be buff out bumper scratches, chips away type paint repair on the corner of the wing and an ebay headlight / buff scratch out of corner of current headlight. Pic of damage yet to update correctly on autotrader, will try again tonight from my laptop rather than phone.

Kebab smell has gone laugh so all you vegans out there will be fine driving it! Although you will be surrounded by a fair few cows worth of leather so maybe not the perfect car for you! boxedin

As I mentioned the other day, mine is averaging 14. But I don’t hang around, and as soon as you hit traffic, it’s appalling. If you’re in true stop-start stuff crawling along, 4mpg is real. A good m-way run with next to no traffic can be as much as 30mpg (53mph behind a truck) to 20mpg (>50 & <100 sustained). If the A1 is flowing normally, then I regularly see 22/24 on long trips up/down it.

You're looking at it too sensibly. Some important factors when owning this car: 6L V12 cool Its ridiculously over the top for anyone's needs, (its has 2 phones in it 1 in the front and 1 in the back, why that is necessary is beyond me!) and that is a part of the appeal!

Side points: great for pub willy waving contests: 445 bhp, original owner was Lord Sainsbury so you still get free parking in all of his stores nationwide (not actually true). Technically classed as a limo on the V5. It has double glazing.

It would warm up when driving to your nearest petrol station........(you would do this more regularly than you are used to!)

Too sensibly? This would be my sensible car, so my other one can semi-retire! Some good points however... never had over 400bhp before, never had double glazing...
