'bks to CdG and his attempts to apply faux convention onto this thread'.
And his attempts to make the SC430 acceptable. Never forget that.Possibly.
It reminds me of the line in 'I, Robot'; "Why is that that robots huddle together in a container?".

Right so we have an LS400 in grey over grey, with clear indicators and stupid chav plates, cracked leather, no floor mats, tape over a leak, a couple of dodgy tyres, no mention of service history and it's got 6 days to run. If it was £500 great, but since it won't be I have no idea what's so special about it.
I'd put good money on it being a shed. Lexus fever has gone too far we need some sense in this thread again.
I'd tend to agree plus not the best MOT history which also references the dreaded R word which doesnt surprise me for any vehicle from that neck of the woods..!!I'd put good money on it being a shed. Lexus fever has gone too far we need some sense in this thread again.

Slightly over budget, but worth posting I think.

Is parking on your back lawn the opposite of a gravel drive?

I love it as well. A great colour - and are these 400s getting better looking with age? Compared to modern cars they are subtle and tasteful.
I like the ad.

Bingo !I used to smoke around in an old Merc Fintail back in the late 90's.
Condition wasn't up to scratch compared to your lovely example, but it suited the image of us young architects living in a converted warehouse in Shoreditch...

I really like that. Morning all, after a bit of advice.
I've been putting off (aka saving for) replacing the rear suspension airbags on my E55 estate.
Have any of you bought the bags recently?
My local MB dealer is quoting £441+vat per bag.
I've seen Arnott ones mentioned before but are they any good? Do I get an error code if I use them? I've gone on a couple of websites and for the AMG ones they seem to be saying they're generic and can fit either side but it's not clear if the price is for one or two. If it's for one, they're more expensive than MB!
Also some of them are coming up as W211 parts, not S211.
Eg. https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/arnott-air-spring-u...
I've also found a company called Aerosus and they're much cheaper and seem to come with decent reviews but has anyone here heard of them?
https://aerosus.co.uk/mercedes/e-class/w211-s211/m...
Cheers.

I fitted Arnott springs to my wife’s non-AMG S211 and they were about 60% the cost of MB genuine springs, but the AMG version is indeed £643 for one, so looks to be not an option:
https://www.hids-direct.co.uk/arnott-mercedes-benz...
I paid less that that for a pair of non-AMG springs 18 months - on the same website as above, they’re £519 a pair. (I wonder if MB have reduced their price?). There’s no handing to the springs, identical left and right, and on the standard suspension there’s no coding or resetting. It’s plug and play, once I realised I was trying to push the air hose into the socket’s blanking plug!
(The photo on the ECP link shows an estate spring - it may fit the saloon too, I don’t know what they’re like).

Thanks for the replies chaps. It looks like the AMG versions are a bit more specialist/expensive.https://www.hids-direct.co.uk/arnott-mercedes-benz...

I think the Merc price is lower because they're offering a £78+vat refund per airbag, if you give them back your old ones.
Looks like I might have to suck up the MB price as I don't want to get something cheap and it not be right. Apparently on the E55 you have to drop the whole back of the car off, do it's not going to be a cheap job (crying face).
Edited to add, what car have you put them on Jim?
