Picnic tables, perhaps, rear blind...I have found a use for.

Driving along the other day I had someone driving very close to the back of me. Got to some traffic lights, I glimpsed in the rear view mirror to find the driver of the car to be also looking at me. I put the rear blind up hehe I did feel smug, and a little bit of a tt, but I thought it was quite funny.
For full effect, you could draw a picture of a middle finger onto said blind...

As a newly-single man on post-tour avoid-Christmas-holidays I think that might be the perfect explanation for a perfect distraction!

Walnut picnic tables seem so essential, a bit like the fabled rear blind, but I just know I'd never use them and the only time they'd ever be unfolded would be for the sales photos when I offloaded it to another fool who falls for the charms of the pointless things.
My grail feature is the electric picnic table fitted to some of the later W140s.

I have decided now is the time to buy a Lexus with a V8. Unfortunately the budget is tight - between £1k and £2k - hoping I'll get £2k for my C220d.

Is a V8 GS worth considering or should I stick to an LS?

Im in similar dilemo. The 645 bmw must go as it is not practical with children. Mrs is saying get a Mondeo estate etc, im thinking of something like an LS / S class similar. Budget £6k. Thoughts please.

Never driven a GS but it's the LS that seems the quintessential Lexus to me, so that's what I'd plump for.

The threadist selling the Lyneham car would be where I'd start if I were you.

Stick with the LS... If someone on the forum made an offer of £1k, mine would be gone.

Just saying...

The LS is cavernous but it isn't as practical as any estate, especially something really capacious like a Mondeo. I like Lexus but for family duties I always bought estates. Might there be scope for two cars?

Which is the only reason I'm selling up.

I'm about to do a ton on moving, as well as embarking on DIY house projects in the new year - but more so than toilet / shower / boiler repairs thus far.

Estate or van for me for the next few years.

2005 750i, £3k.

Before this turned into the Lexus forum this mildly injured 760i sparked debate about sunroofs. Still not takers at £4750 but "price negotiable" now. Looks fantastic.

Here's an injury free 760Li at thread max.

5750 gets you a 760 with under 100k on it and this.

LWB S class - justifiable by extra rear room means no kicking of the back of the drivers chair = less distractions = safer.

Huge boot. Roof box if really needed. Plus can probably fit hand luggage in the rear footwell.

Safest car on the road. Well proven mechanics...

Therefore it’s better than a Mondeo.

How much do you think it would cost to get the aircon sorted though?

My other car which I am really struggling to let go is a very low mileage, time-warp condition, 2001 Honda Accord 1.8S hatch - it isn't an estate but is massive in the back with the seats down - it doesn't really qualify for this thread as it is a 5 speed manual, but the aircon works.

Just saying.....

Just from a quick look you could get a used compressor pretty cheap, a reman/new one will be around £300-400 plus a couple of hours fitting + regas.

I'd be tempted to try and get it repaired though, it might be a straight-forward fix.

There’s an EXTREMELY small marker for these.

I’d show the private seller if the one at £5750 this 740Li that’s only done 81k miles and is 3 years younger for a grand less.

Ok it’s 2/3 the number of cylinders but you’d play that down saying it’s the LWB that you are more interested in. He may say go screw your self, but it may also help chip a few quid off.

10 years ago I had an LS400 today I have a GS450h. Maybe the passage of time has clouded my memory, but the GS is no where near to the LS in refinement

I'd agree. The LS is a triumph of engineering. The GS is a car.
