Best smoker barges 1-5 large [Vol 15]
Discussion
For those who were interested in the GROM audio system....I got it fitted yesterday and it works really well. Few pics here as I pulled up near a friend's house.

It can either stream music totally wirelessly using Bluetooth, and connect to 4G network via my phone as a hotspot, I need to work out how to tether 4G via USB as soon as it plugs in, because wifi tethering will chew battery life.
Google maps integration absolutely seamless (and you can even say "OK Google take me to work" and, providing you have work set up as an address, it will then set the navigation to work, as an example....same goes for music or radio apps "OK google, switch radio to..." whatever, and it'll change radio station. If playing music via an app on your phone the steering wheel buttons work to change songs in the playlist/folder. In some radio apps the steering wheel buttons don't work to change station and you need to press the screen, but overall it's a good system. At £500 it wasn't cheap, fitting cost £120 which I thought reasonable.

That looks good. I had a Pioneer system in my recently departed Boxster which had Android Auto, a thoroughly impressive system and using Waze or Google Maps to navigate is so much better than any built in sat nav.https://drive.google.com/open?id=1eJZRLk01WSRTs4yL...

Just over 1 week into W124 ownership, and just over 100 miles covered in that time with some town driving included. Everytime I go for a drive, it always feels like an occasion. The 2.8L engine is well matched to the car (and possesses twice as many cylinders as my previous car), and I'm always surprised at how well the car keeps up. I have used just over a quarter of a tank for 100 miles, although I am not sure whether the fuel gauge is linear and accurately matches.
Going to visit an extremely well regarded Mercedes independent next week to discuss service and some minor niggles. Here's to hoping that he doesn't find anything too disastrous!

It doesn't look in bad nick for those miles, although other examples have been sold for that much with about 2/3rds the odo reading. Amazed they have the front to risk over a bag tbh.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202...

Seems decent if it runs well- obviously it's got a few dents, but that means you can park it without worrying about having a trolley mashed into ithttps://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202...

It’s a shame I’ve only just come across the advert, but it’s about an hour up the road from me so will go and view it next weekend if it is still for sale! If it runs alright and the gearbox/ air suspension niggles don’t raise their heads I could see myself wafting around in that for a year or so.

Phwoar indeed. Abattoir leather never looked so good. Gotta love that ergo gear knob, too, like a box of matches atop a stick.Krikkit said:

Only a set of wheels away from magnificence.
Previously listed at £7.5k, but I think thread top is closer to the money.
XM and 605 both look brilliant as well, there were quite a few of those about in the day, now they're near enough gone.

Any suggestions on SUV’s now into this territory?
Jeep Cherokee/ Grand, 4.0+ petrol only L322. P38 if you fancy it.
ML with big petrol engines give everyone kittens. The 55 is in budget.
Nothing the masses would buy.

They always looked fking fantastic. Just needs someone to buy this as well and do a Youtube road-trip through France in them. 3 million views guaranteed.*
A refreshing change from my rising sun affliction - my first car was a starship mileage 205 so I can always be tempted by a good Peugeot, however I WANT that with almost every fibre of my being. I mean how good does it look! Shame my garage is just not long enough (and I have a perfect barge anyway). Edited by TommoAE86 on Monday 13th January 10:35
