Excellent spot there - you’re on form today (again).

So... a few hours ago I mentioned the Yaris & no purchasing... but I really like that. Git. Am now considering this as well - it’s £1500, tax will be £300ish & I never got around to cancelling insurance on SL2 after export, so that’d cover it. And I’ve never owned a v6 (done inline 4/5/6 & v8/10/12). Might have to see what the plans are for the weekend. scratchchin

You’re welcome anytime H. I know you’re not far from me & you wanted a go in the M6 as well - am sure we can work something out...

Buy iy, run it for a while and punt it on, it's certainly not going to lose money.

You'll have to get on it quick though, I doubt it'll hang around.

You can thank me later...

I really wanted one years ago as a shed, but picked up an S124 instead.

Nice looking car.

T-Shirt thread is this a-way for anyone who has missed it. Not sure we've got consensus yet as there are still so many catchphrases on here!

Saab 9-5 2.3 Aero manual estate, £1350.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202...

Do they have to be the Aero versions of the 2.3,or will any 2.3 Turbo do to be tuned to within 200rpm of going bang? There are a fair few Arctics and so on with a 2.3T, but if they have smaller turbos and whatnot I guess they are not worth bothering with.

I love the R230 shape but it would have to have those multi-spoke wheels for me. As mentioned the headlights are a bit strange, I’m certain the xenons are on their way out.

I don't think you can actually tune the aeros much on standard internals.

Not sure how they differ from lesser variants sorry, when I was buying mine only a Spanish aero would do.

Big spec and an awful lot of car for the money.
eek
If it all works that's an awful lot of car for that much money.
Had mine for nearly 2yrs now and still love driving it every weekend.
Where's the best place to read up on these? Are they likely to chuck up naughty bills at random? Always been a 129 SL fan but these are cheap!
In the airport on your way to collect it.

Honestly look at it, sublime!

ETA, the green headlights are curious. Not so curious as to rule it out for anyone, just curious.

I was gifted (very generously, I have to admit) a cheap, early, neglected r230 SL500 and was pleased to off load (rather gracelessly, I have to admit) three months later for tuppence ha'penny. When gone bad, they are very hard—expensive—to get back right. The main problems seem to be rust and water ingress, the latter shagging everything.

Morning

Ref Techno Classica: I'd like to book things this week. CdG, harrykul and BigBen (and any others), are we good for Thursday to Sunday?

As a reminder it runs 25-29 March. Information here: http://www.siha.de/tce_uk.php?m=1&ms=1

Tickets here: https://techno-classica.ticket.io/2kwmjed8/?

It's €22 in advance per day, €25 on the door.

Do we need international driving permits as I I am not sure?

A strong (£1750) haggle required... but, nevertheless, a 400bhp+ supercharged big cat, with full service history within spitting distance of top thread.

Seats look a bit tatty, but that looks pretty good.

I'd be tempted to have the mirrors, side gill and bumper strakes painted the same shade of the bodywork to take the bling factor down.

This one looks good if you can stand silver, closer to thread budget:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Also, while browsing XFs, this non-supercharged V8 looks very thread-compatible. Nice area (edge of an AoNB), 4x matching Michelin Cross-Climates. £5695 but it's been up since November.

I looked into the SV8 when i was offered (and missed out on) an XF S for 7K --- the SV8 has a steel body, and the XF S is all aluminuim, i also believe there were better DIFFs on the XF S and suspension - and of course "bonnet scoops"...of course the engine is also different ! :-)

2007 - 2015 XFs have all steel bodies, whether 2.7 diesel, XFR, or anything between these extremes.

I am trying to get excited about Saab’s, despite needing a rapid load lugging tow car and fancying a change from a DE base, it’s proving a challenge. It seems the Aero came with the TD04 Turbo which is err, “better” than the standard one, but if you are so inclined can be bolted on to the other 2.3’s. I doubt I’d be inclined. I’d mess that up.

This late 2003 Aero saloon looks nice and has had a lot done. But even then £3k seems optimistic. Is it unreasonable for me to think that? I can’t imagine it would sell to anyone outside that site ever again- at that price anyway. Post 2006 if I’m paying £555+ on tax, I’m having something faster and/ or bigger and/ or anything else to justify it!
