FFRR Supercharged, with full RR history, from what appears to be a Jaguar / Landrover indie, creeping out of top thread at £5995. This seems like an awful lot of metal for the money...

Cripes. Not black/22” wheels/naff mods either. Cheap road tax too. Glad it’s so far away!
Are those wheels not off of a RRS? Mismatched wheels is a bugbear of mine.
I think they *might* be genuine Supercharged wheels? My previous L322 had something very similar to those on, albeit in 20" flavour (a factory option in the handbook).
They just don't look quite right to me but I could well be wrong!

under 6.5K , possible haggle without taking up the warrany/part-ex, its tempting me ........... although the front badge would have to go.
Can't think why you'd buy one of those when you can get an XJR for the same / less money.
Because the S-type R is the better driver's car apparently.

But it's the ultra rare model which had an extra badge on the grill getmecoat

In other news, my barge continues to reward my gratuitous investment with an imperious drive through Storm Dennis with family and luggage in tow. Thankfully, the roads were clear due to, I presume, the caution over hitting the roads in the forecast storm. 100mph cruising for miles is living the dream in the UK.

It did, however, take an age to get comfortable. I've no idea why my two memory settings (one for Mrs Bolide) just weren't doing it for me, but I had it sorted half way up the extremely wet M40.
Driving though storms with confidence is where it hard to put a value on pure economics.

On the M4 the other week through storm what’s her name, I was glad to be in the heavy S211 & not a new highish sided light PCP washing machine SUV.
Two points here:

i) Please make sure you get a photo of 155551 miles.
ii) Agree on not being in a high sided car in high winds, driving the i3 the past few weeks has given me an idea of what the pilots in all the recent storm landing videos are experiencing.

As far as Mrs Bolide will be concerned, BigBen will be entirely responsible from interrupting either a nap or a selfie, for a pointless (in her estimation) photo of my binnacle.

Consider it done.
Somehow we managed to 'Get.Snap.Done.'

Good effort. Is sport mode the preferred option?
Is the gearbox all sorted now?

I'm sure they are the original supercharged 20" wheels. Here's a photo from the 2005 launch:

wonder why it was so rare.

Black is boring IMO, I don't find the beige/cream that bad at all, although it needs to be broken up (remember the 90s Mercs with beige leather, beige dash, beige steering wheel.....!!). I do think darker hues suit the LS430 though.

Why is it that fast Jags depreciate so much, whilst a Merc or BMW of the same performance from that era is x2 as much?
Because hand car wash operatives don't know what a Jaguar is.

The Magpie Grandad Chav does seem to almost exclusively buy Jaguars (and usually the smaller models with the smallest engines), although there is a brilliant E class Mercedes parked on a driveway along the A4 after Osterley station that has strips of halfords chrome on every single shutline.

I present you with this beauty:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/jaguar-s-type-3-0-v6-se...

It's a full house of crap; chav tints, a bonnet leaper AND an extra badge, chrome wheel arch finishers, painted calipers, a Halfords V6 badge, stickers on at least three of the windows, and a seller who refers to the car as "she". The rust bursting out below the chrome finishes reinforces why an X350 is a better bet than an S-Type for similar money! I'm stunned that "she" has been bid up to £2,500 considering the likes of that 3.6 XJ8 we had a day or two back.

Incredible that people were still buying those in 1992, beautiful though they are.

It's a shame really because it's a late (but not quite crazy VED), facelifted example of the most sensible engine choice for an S-Type, on little wheels and donut profile tyres so if it weren't ruined it would be a good £2k smoker barge.

Sport mode is the preferred option. Comfort mode doesn't change down quickly enough and since the gearbox adapt to throttle inputs over time it's gradually adapted to my driving style.

The gearbox is sorted now after dropping the best part of a couple of grand on it. There is occasionally a sudden lurch when moving from a standing start, but I'll monitor that over time.

If I remember rightly comfort will always pull away in 2nd, so feels quite pedestrian. On earlier cars it was Winter/Summer mode rather than Comfort/Sport.

If you do have shift issues it's worth rolling the dice on a valve body piston repair kit, especially once the miles stack up - I did mine in an afternoon on the driveway, the best kits seem to be from Sonnax.

I can't think of a cheaper way to get into a 500bhp motor... I bet this still feels as if it's hewn from granite.
