One for the Mercedes specialists, saw a pretty new E class on the motorway today that was badged on the back as a 350E, I thought the method of number then letter was years ago (500Sl 190E etc) but have they changed this now and gone back to their old ways? Or is this someone simply re-badging..
Was it an E350e?

E - class
350 - engine spec (NB. Bears no resemblance to size or power)
e - electric

Cheers! Had a look at your posting history for most of my answers. Have you posted any interior shots of it?

Really liking it and the black older version that gets posted here!
Here you go, these are from when it was at the port in Japan - been cleaned up since then;

Nav won't work in the UK, and yes that is a mini-disc player below the CD slot!

I love these. There's something so left of field with this Alfa.
not sure that front bumper hasnt had a respray in not quite the correct colour............... love it though - had that steering wheel on my 155 (eventually, its a long story involving fiat dealerships and italian stock control)

I feel obliged to re-post r129sl's rather fabulous posting from the last thread, aka Speckled Jim's Thread of Shame.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-Benz-320TE-W12...

I can't upload the picture but it's a green S124. Pricey vee-hickle, but there's a wonderful driveway, a thread-garage, and anyone that describes himself as Mr Muirhead has to be a decent sort; none of that presumptious familiarity for that seller and I rather like it.

Very thread garage, is that an e12 m535i sat behind the Mercedes?

Really hard to say, certainly whether it's an M535i, could well be a boggo spec model, and maybe even an E28 as they look remarkably similar.

That's the very rare Aurora iridescent paint. It was an expensive option - £1,500!
They did another iridescent colour called Nuvola Blue which you see more of:

It's an E28, no vent in the C pillar and black door handles.

I guess it was the hybrid, looking at that one it must have been a C class I saw because it looked smaller, but it literally just said 350e on the back confused

I regret selling my W124 that I purchased in the last volume. It was a great car but wasn’t getting used as I got more enjoyment from my Mk2 golf GTI and have a company car with fuel paid for longer journeys.

Anyway, I want to see what the thread consensus is on the VW Arteon? I have recently acquired a 270hp one as a company car and am quite enjoying it, with the way they are depreciating it won’t be long until they are in budget!

Very nice, they are such a good looking car. No experience of them though, so would be interested to hear what you think of it.

Mine is a C350e. I bet the C had fallen off. The letters are not fixed on all that well and a vigorous leathering would easily see one come off in your hand.

A very nicely proportioned shape, especially from the rear 3/4. The rear haunch is, IMO, the best execution so far of that cue, which VAG have been putting on everything.

I'm sure a well-equipped one of this is a super way to get about, as long as it's not to stiff?

That 166 is in an incredibly (incredibly) rare colour that apparently changes during different lighting conditions. Love. The lower case e after the number denotes that it is a hybrid. C350e, E350e, S500e etc. As opposed to the original E as per 190/260 and indeed name of the E Class - Einspritzung, denotes presence of fuel injection. S was "Sonder" - "special" etc.

Rather nice XJR in very very dark green... I think it suits it well, as do the dark carpets / light leather and wood combo. Tensioners done, history good. I think I'd prefer it on lighter coloured alloys, but apparently the ones it has were factory.

That looks like it might be a lovely example. Not sure the wheels left the factory in that colour but it's not as repulsive as the currently fashionable glossy black finish, and that tacky leaper stuck on the boot should come off easily. That car has every toy I actually want from a car (cruise, heated screen, heated seats, power seats, proper climate control) and none of the software driven st that they shovel into new grotboxes. Perfect daily, if you can tolerate the fuel costs hehe

The ditchfinders might be exciting in the cold wet weather though...

Those wheels could be factory fit, but I would've expected the bigger brakes which were available as an option from the technical update which was I think for late-1999. Also the wrong colour as noted, they should just be gold iirc.

It does look reasonable, although the MOT history would suggest it's fizzing away a bit underneath. Lovely colours though.

I like the look of this one at £3500, although the wheel and seats will need professional attention by the looks. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153685622821

I'm a sucker for blue though.

The blue one looks the much classier car of the two to me. I rather like it.
