Oh. I thought you were joking Woody. Still, it'd be a dull old world if we all liked the same thing.

I think someone's hacked WOODY's account. Either that, or he's smoking some really strong stuff.

Taxi spec! Brilliant. Tragic lack of interior shots so we can't play blanking-plate bingo.
An overlooked observation. This game must be a thread obsession!

My S211 isn't a thread car as such....in that it cost me more than double the top of thread budget, 3 years ago.
It's a E55 on a 54 plate and is currently costing me a fking fortune, with a service and MOT still to come this month.

This thread did inspire it though, as I went from a succession of new cars, to going out looking for something thread worthy in a E500 flavour. Then I had a go in a E55 and bought that instead, obviously!
We lead parallel motoring lives. My 54-plate E55 estate just had a service and MOT. Throw in some brake bits and a couple of parking sensors and it ended up setting me back a grand. In three years and just over 20K miles I've spent over £4K on it. Does 20mpg at best. Now over 160K miles so I'd struggle to get much for it. However, its continued willingness to accelerate almost instantly to any speed of my choosing means I have exactly zero regrets.
JF87 bringing sunshine to blue Monday with his witticisms, what a chap. It is makes you feel any better, the costs for my E500 have been higher over a period of 40k - the only difference is the initial outlay!

*Flounces off to join Derin in hiding*

Seriously though if you're reading Derin, I hope things get better and you're back soon.

Oi! Lay off W00DY! biggrin

Those deep dish alloys are atrocious and you ruined almost two consecutive pages of German bliss!

However, that estate (which has now ended) is a spectacular looking thing and that R129 SL has a proper blue interior which I find very handsome.

How about a brace of V12s?

Mercedes S600 V12 BiTurbo

A strong haggle at £6,000 ONO, mind.

But it is silver...

Or, a forum favourite;

E38 750iL

£3,695

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2...

Bit tatty, needs a new windscreen - but it does have double glazing...
The 750 looks like a great way to lose 4 grand by MOT lapse day in Sept.

The S600 looks like a great way to lose 4 grand on in the service it’ll be due.

I would love either.

If it tempts you further, this is the response to my enquiry (asking for a friend):

"Thanks for your message. The service history is complete, mercedes main dealer for half her life, then specialist independent merc workshops. I have a file full of invoices and receipts which you are welcome to look through which amount to many thousands! I think the car cost 54k new.

The alloys currently on the car have winter tyres. I have driven through heavy snow with them no problem while many other cars were abandoned! The main set came with the car and are 17" with Continental or Pirelli I think.

The vin number for checking spec is:-
WDB2112702A4609131"

Well, he's priced it fairly and responded after midnight to my earlier message on Saturday; the buyer should invite him - though I believe that this sale represents his ticket out of the one way money pit!

As an eagle eyed member of this parish observed earlier - a full tank of petrol would entail pure indulgence for the sake of this thread, unless the journey home involves a detour down to the A272... I would! biggrin

I'll stick my head above the parapet and admit I agree completely - the DHP wheels and just a slightly less on-stilts look saves the LS400 for me. I'd still have one rolling on stilts, but I would never think it looked good.

That's a 10/10 response from a barger - including the VIN so you can decode it for option sniffing is a good sign too. Someone buy it.

OMFG story of my life. Hence a Nissan Leaf and a Honda Civic on the drive instead of an E500 estate and an Infiniti Q60.
