Interested in the beardarrati's view on this theory.

Now, that's the t-shirt!!!

(Maybe losing the model-specific plotting... include a t-shirt marker for "plot your own"?)

That Bollee guy is interesting never heard of him but Google is your friend as they say
Think he made sunglasses too didn't he? 😉

My old V70, the one that everyone says has a chocolate auto gearbox, had the feature that if you selected a specific gear, it wouldn't change up, it just bounced off the rev limiter.
Good car that (bar the turning circle).

YES. Absolutely the right shirt material.

Let's just accept that some like the "feel" of a manual, and others revel in the convenience of letting the machinery take the strain.
Imho they have their place- some cars suit them, some don't.

If we want to say that anything unnecessary should be stripped from cars because technology could eliminate the need then we wouldn't have anything except 4-pot turbos with 10 speed autos made in jelly mould form like Teslas.

Vive la differences...

Goodbye £320 per month leased new Audi A6 and hello £1,200 owned 17 year old L322. Which will be better?

If it runs trouble free for 4 months, you're ahead. And have a RR.

I am heading to the bookies in the morning.

Thanks (Nick) - I had though WorldBoss of this parish had one but didn’t recall anyone else.

Appreciate the general encouragement and have still not completely ruled this out!
I think WorldBoss' car was the next shape.

I had a W220 S600TT and ended up simply not having time to fettle it or drive it, still spend a few thousand then sold it at a loss. That said on the occasions I drove it it was fantastic, laugh out loud fast. In summary listen to bmthnick's advice, at £4k it is a bargain but have 50% of the purchase price in stock just in case. Even at an effective £6k it is a bargain.

Do you get a good sensation of speed in them; I imagine that the Merc does a good job of insulating you, and that you have to look at the speedo to realise how fast you're actually going? I do need to experience one for myself...
