I don't think the Fez is exactly crap to drive.
Equally, I don't think there are many people who would argue that it's anywhere close to being the ultimate driving machine, despite the cylinder count? In which case, you gotta ask what the 12 cylinders are actually for, beyond 'tradition' and bragging rights.

The biggest ‘issue’ is CO2.
Ferrari should plant loads of trees to offset it.
Secondary is city pollution.
Ferrari should plant loads of trees in cities to offset it.
Unless everyone else’s hybrids are using pure green energy (they’re not), that’s all everyone else is essentially doing.
All these efforts seem bloody stupid to me.
It’s like technology fighting against itself, rather than taking the path of least resistance.
Kudos to Ferrari though for doing the hard job rather than the cheap and easy one.

True but where is the line?
Obviously there isn't a line - there's a spectrum. But it's fairly obvious that a V12 supercar will always be toward the extreme end of that spectrum.
And who really cares? If someone can afford to run and enjoy a V12 Ferrari then good on them.

You don't think that such statements are becoming increasingly facile, then?Personally, emissions have zero bearing on what I drive but appreciate that the (political) world is changing. Hence I will continue to drive what I want for as long as I can.

As has been explained, a few Ferraris are not going to make a big dent on the world and if that bothers you, anything remotely sporty should also be banned/discouraged.
As has been explained, the problem with Ferrari making big, inefficient engines aspirational is that it has a knock-on effect out of all proportion to the small numbers of cars they build themselves. But in any case, we need to get away from the whole ethos of 'it doesn't matter, because it's only me, and I don't count on my own'.
I disagree that anything remotely sporty should necessarily be a problem - lightweight high performance cars like the Elise and LCC Rocket can both be very efficient, and fantastic fun to drive (in reality, probably more so than a V12 Ferrari). Perhaps if Ferrari started to shift their considerable engineering talents in that direction, rather than administering palliative care to dinosaurs?

I have an Elise and yep it is great fun. But you can't tell me it is the same kind of fun as a Ferrari because it blatantly isn't.

I never suggested any such thing. It was you who used the term 'anything remotely sporty' and suggested that anything meeting that definition was equally unacceptable as a V12 Ferrari. You can't tell me that an Elise (yes, I've owned a couple myself; and various Locaterfields) doesn't qualify as even 'remotely sporty', because they blatantly are.
