Or that PSA showed FCA how to become super profitable.
Exactly. Renault have probably missed out.

Wow that output is amazing, can’t get my head around that there is that many nutters who buy PSA products but each to there own and all.

Also how has the Chrysler name been kept, do they even sell cars outside the US anymore?

Humbug.....call me old fashioned.....but when I think of quality reliable cars, none of these companies spring to mind.
It's like sweeping up the all the dead wood and try to make a successful empire out of it all.
I do hope I'm wrong but one thing I can say is a lot of the top brass will make a killing out of this which ever way it goes.
Before anyone says it.....yes I would love a Dodge Challenger if only the build quality and rust protection were acceptable. There really is no excuse for those issues.
That's where the germans marketing skill has come to dominate, their products are no more reliable than the french yet people still harp on 'german reliability'.

I quite like the cars that the french are putting out at the moment, citroen and peugeot have a very characterful range of vehicles with some good engines for 3/4 cylindered cars.

They may not be the most fashionable but they are correcting a lot of their dull efforts they made in the first decade of this century.

No idea why you say that. We just got a 3008 and it's far better than its competitors by quite a margin.

I'd happily lease a new PSA vehicle but wouldn't buy as don't think the overall quality control is quite there. Old skool Renault's and Peugeots I have no problem with, the mechanical simplicity making them cheap to maintain when things went wrong. Had a number of Renault 5's and Peugeot 306's in the family (all petrol n/a), reliability was excellent..the cars took a beating over years and just kept going. Saying that I really do like the look of the new Peugeot's esp the 308...but just not sure I'm comfortable pulling the trigger on buying.
I think reliability and durability has suffered across the board for all brands due to the push for more 'efficiency'.

^^This. Almost all PSA cars are sold into 'mainstream' sectors where everything is absolute dross with marshmallow dynamics and sardine can build, and they compete pretty robustly in those fields. Their current products have taken a huge leap forward from the really ropey stuff they've been making for the last 20 years.

When they try to compete with proper cars, with models like the 508, they seem to struggle outside of the domestic market now. This has made me remember what a smashing car the 406 was though.

Here you see the comparison with the German (and American) brands:

It's also worth noting that Alfas position is actually even worse than that graph can give the impression of at first, as the estate versions are separated from the sedans and Alfa have naturally no estate sales.

That graph is a clear demonstration that the 3 box compact saloon is an endangered species, and the Alfa isn't the worst offender.
