Everyone can argue about this for generations to come, about how its 'just a french VW and therefore a recipe for disaster', but it took the world by storm, has silly horsepower/speed but is still probably the easiest to pootle to Booths in compared to a koenigsegg/mclaren. It oozes class in a sea of shouty Lamborghinis and Ferrari's, it is a loud car but has a burble to it rather than farts and bangs. Behind aircraft and high speed rail, this would be the ultimate weapon of choice to cross Europe in. It damn well could be faster than trains, TGV aside, and would no doubt be the ride of your life to do such a journey in.

Epic car.

... a PH'er bought a Veyron (very cheap) from an Auction (Blackbushe) and started a thread (I think) on how he was going to try and run it on the cheap, I think he ended up moving it on after discovering you cant run it cheaply.
Think he was a motor trader (SMDG or something rings a bell) - I don't think he ever intended to keep it for long but do recall him posting he drove it back from the auction on third party only traders insurance or something similar - if I am wrong, please forgive my memory it was several years ago!
I thought he owned/ran an Ferrari/Italian car Independent specialist of some sort. My memory is hazy on this though so I could be wrong.

Any idea where I can find this thread?
My googling skills are very limited, but after a while managed to get this link to the original thread which has since been deleted.

Not sure if there is a way of recovering old threads, but looks like it was a trader/specialist that bought it, and his first task was to get custom alloys made to get round the tyre problem. Which he did, as google pictures show the car on non original alloys.

The Veyron wears the reg BUG1B and looks like it was moved on two years after he bought it.

Seems there are a few threads on PH where this guy and his Veyron was discussed, including another PH'er wanting to get in touch as she planned to buy a Veyron herself.

I remember something similar - I think he had a different set of rims made to be able to use more standard tyre sizes
