Cars with spurious claims in private ads
Discussion
One that stood out for me, years ago on a Ford RS forum, was a seller marketing his car on eBay exclaiming how his car was a completely factory standard example and totally unmodified.
Unfortunately, he'd forgotten about all the threads / posts he'd made that were easily found when you Googled the reg plate. Any potential buyer doing that would have quickly discovered that the car may indeed have been "standard" at the time he was selling it, but it certainly wasn't previously as the car had been modified very heavily and tuned to 400+ bhp before he'd stripped all the mods off prior to selling. He'd also forgotten about the thread where he'd blown the engine up running too much boost and asking for advice / direction on who was best to rebuild the engine

Super rare, exclusive 5 speed manual...
Late 90s Jaguar XJ, also describes as fully loaded, cloth seats.
There is one currently for sale on autotrader, but then have only gone with ‘rare’.
"Fully loaded" is another on the modern cliche bingo - I see it all the time on ads for cars that are mid-spec.Late 90s Jaguar XJ, also describes as fully loaded, cloth seats.

The one that tickles me is when an advert states “only run on premium fuel”, you then see its had 5 previous owners, did they all run it on the same fuel as well?!
Again to me I don't mind thatJust the owner trying to explain they care about the car...
Not spurious per se, but legendary waffle!

The guy used to have a serious badge fetish too, it was not uncommon to find one of his V8 cars such as a Mercedes with an old Rover V8 badge glued on the lower grille
