Very nice V12 DB7 Vantage for sale on CarAndClassic, ad is well written except..

The Ad said:
The car was delivered new on 6th July 2000 to a Mr P Reading, of Walton-on-Thames, to a house now worth just over £2.5 million pounds.
Possibly a Daily Mail journalist?
I thought this was a joke, but it's genuinely there in the ad, that's the final straw, I'm gonna do something, not sure what yet, but it will probably involve a drink.
but hey ho, is anyone bothered by scuffed alloys...

That would be lovely with a different colour, different wheels, no stupid stickers, and without an absolute tool as a previous owner.

The guy used to have a serious badge fetish too, it was not uncommon to find one of his V8 cars such as a Mercedes with an old Rover V8 badge glued on the lower grille

That website gave me a seizure.
I had to go to Lingscars.com to give my eyes a rest after that

The amount of cars I viewed which were described as 'mint' when in fact were clearly rusting/bubbling away under the arches when I was looking at Mazda's and Subaru's was depressing, think a lot of the owners were just lying to themselves.

I remember there was a 1995 or 1996 Ferrari 355 for sale a year or so ago.

The ad read something along the lines of "XYZ bought the car new, he was well connected and a good friend of Ayrton Senna, who has probably ridden along in this car"

Ayrton Senna died in 1994.
Makes me think of how everyone selling an NSX up until around 2 years ago claimed that it was 'developed by' Senna. When in reality he drove the pre-production on car on one, maybe two occasions before the car was released.
This one supposedly had the actual footprint of Senna still on the floor mat!

Is that even legal?

My Google-fu says no. I suspect when you sign for a car, the small print says you're happy to relinquish these rights. It says to me that they're aware it contravenes your rights too. How this would stand up in court, I don't know. Sounds like an attempt at a get out clause if when you find the vehicle is in nowhere near the condition advertised.

The one that tickles me is when an advert states “only run on premium fuel”, you then see its had 5 previous owners, did they all run it on the same fuel as well?!
Again to me I don't mind that
Just the owner trying to explain they care about the car...
Agreed but I've seen it on ads for 10+ year old cars where the current owner has had it for six months. Not really a worthwhile selling point
I find it humorous when they say only run on VPower / BP ultimate... Since there is a distinct difference between the two. If it was VPower/Momentum then fine, but general "super" fuels are short a couple RON (which can cause catastrophic knock if the cars mapped for 99)

"Genuine sale"

Well, to be honest, I didn't think if I rang about the car, you'd say " Its fake/not for sale"

"Aircon needs regas""

Yes, you must be 100% certain then, its not a leak/ the dryer/condenser or the whole damn pump.
I agree, "just needs a regas" is essentially saying "aircon leaks therefore doesn't work and I'm too tight to get it looked at". I tend to ignore the rest of any ad when I see that.

Followed by the usual 'just needs a £5 part to fix' or similar

I'd like to quote a portion of advert for a car listed for sale on that website:

"Where the Skoda Roomster really excels is in the interweave of functionality and originality, a fluid mix that flows throughout the car. In profile, the Roomster’s swooping curves and disjointed window lines may appear clumsy and without purpose, but in truth these inject interest and differentiation into a shape that is necessarily boxy and slab sided."

http://www.hicalibrecars.com/cars/others/roomster-...

Simply amazing.

Don't know why I've never suggested paying the seller an extra tenner to get it sorted for me. I mean, they'd be a fiver up at least...

Search for any car on Ebay etc, specifying age/mileage
9 times out of 10 the cheapest are dodgy. Obvious scam/CatD in the tiniest print/10k miles (100000k in the text)
