£158k base price! The Cayenne saved Porsche because it was relativelty affordable. I know this is an Aston Martin, what what old chap, but after that re-badged Mitsubishi Cygnet a few years ago, I think Aston can afford to lower the entry point a bit moan
It was a Toyota iQ, which they did to allegedly lower their average emissions. I agree with you though, it did little to enhance their brand.
Aston will have done their research regarding pricing, and I really hope they're right. It doesn't feel like it though.

The price point puts it between the Urus and Benteyga, the two SUV's that occupy that space (the Cullinan we can discount as it's in its own league on price...and...looks). Dynamically it'll lean toward the Urus, luxury wise it's level pegging (perhaps even exceeding) the Benteyga.
For it to compete with those but be priced like a Cayenne, at sub £100k, just isn't feasible. It's a different division of car, with a different price point.

Wait until the Ferrari Purosangue comes along to see what can be charged for a super sports SUV biggrin

and a mashup of that and a Juke from many other angles. I guess they know what they're doing.

True, but thanks to VAG, Lamborghini and Bentley are in rude health respectively and so can chase those customers. Aston Martin are struggling and so need a model they can stack high and sell (relatively) cheap imo - whilst still maintaining the brand image, which I appreciate is a tall order. They know what they're doing.... I hope.

I haven’t driven the current vantage (but I have owned an Elise which did have excellent handling) but the reviews of the vantage (certainly initially) do make me wonder whether this will truly be well resolved despite Matt Becker’s reputation? Seems a mighty ask to compete when the development budget must dwarf that of the Bentayga / Urus / Cayenne / Q8 / Touareg.

Those DRLs are horrible - the wrong shape; far too conspicuous with a solid paint finish, and ruin an otherwise well-resolved design

"Getting to deliver on the broad set of dynamic targets has required a huge amount of technology and work on getting the different parts to function together."

Can we please not have PH infested with this awful lazy phrase, beaten to death by our previous prime minister — "deliver on ..."

The only time it's applicable is when describing a postman on a bicycle.

I think it looks very promising.

My wife loves SUVs and we currently have a 2015 Range Rover. I would rather have had a Cayenne but the interior space wasn't very good so it was ruled out early on. I hope this is better (class-leading space was mentioned somewhere)

This DBX will be well out of budget for at least four years but I do hope it's a success for AM so the company can thrive. Despite the likes of Extinction Rebellion banging the drum and the Guardian comments pages exploding with hate for SUVs, the market is strong so I don't think is AM is too late. US, Middle East and Asia should see them right so long as the quality is there.

Massive market for hot hatches, vans and pick-up trucks...when are Aston going to be making them.

Looks like a fat Juke. Could easily be a Nissan or Infiniti - and it already has Mercedes bits in it like an Infiniti.

I've had the only view i need, from the outside.
And it's not left a good impression frown

Good to see a manufacturer showing what an SUV can do off road though, i'm guessing Aston are aiming at a different type of buyer than those that buy most of the other "premium" brand SUV's.

Thanks. I won't. You don't too.

I didn't realise you can only comment if you've put a deposit down...

"Delivering" would have done, using 3 fewer words.
