You could have 2x E61 M5s for that price, using one as a donor car for parts when the other one start breaking smile

a beautiful car, one of my favourites - but £50k for a 30 year old estate with the steering wheel on the wrong side? no thanks

No, No, No, No and No, what a horror, all dewy eyed nostalgia for how things once were and how things once were was ever so much better. Get a grip and take a deep long draught of sweet reality. A left hand drive estate car with over a hundred thousand miles for 50 thousand pounds. Pretty much anything you like is better, even something Korean nowadays. Case of the Emperor’s old rags and cast offs.

Everyone agreed nice car!

Everyone agreed massively overpriced!

Remove stealer margins and it lives in the £10-20k range, IMO.

While I would agree it is special and has aged well, I just cannot see how anyone could justify £50,000 one of these... A RHD low-miler maybe, for the collectors out there but I wouldn't even want this for £20,000.

At this price, I'd rather buy an E39 M5 that I could use regularly and still have enough cash left to cover any unexpected bills for a few years...

An expensive, near 30 year old, 110k mile, LHD, BMW estate - in silver. Apparently this is desirable in PH-land.
Maybe one for the shed thread, definitely one for the overpriced cars thread.
That’s well under 4k in mileage a year, unless stored in a barn etc at some point.
Plenty of silver Porsches too.
Price is truly outrageous.

I was enjoying the article and admiring how nice a car this one looked- but then got to the price. My God! £50K- absolute insanity. I was mentally imagining around £8-10K. Anybody who can think of spending £50k on this leggy, left hooker estate car needs their head looking at.

I remember seeing a Daytona Violet one a few years back, utterly perfect. I have always loved the E34.

I adore the E34 M5. A very special Q car indeed and one of my personal favourite BMW’s. However if I were to buy one (which I really hope I do eventually) it would have to be a saloon, prices on the touring are a bit silly imho

I'd be very surprised if he shifts it at that cash. Same time this is becoming almost like Switzerland, where you have cars like this on the forecourt for years on end with the Dealer holding out for a Unicorn to show up with a chequebook, some vaselin and a condom.

Its almost as though they dont want to sell it but use it as click bait to see 'well what else have they got in stock..'

There’s no need to wait. When it comes to fast estate, RS2 is a faster by all means, and most importantly a better estate car as being an estate practicality is one of the most important factors.
Not being a German car fan I really can't tell one Audi fast estate from another, but an M5 estate... now that's distinctive.

How come some E34s have E36 M3 styled side mirrors, and some don't?

Prefer the rectangles, but other than that, it's the best
The rectangular ones are for non-M cars I think.
This.
Most E34 M5's have rectangular door mirrors.

I assume the M3 style ones were either an option or a popular mod.

Fantastic engine, probably my favourite in a BMW. But these 3.8 M5s take a lot of looking after. Not sure I’d rush to have another

As for a more desirable estate, there’s a certain PH-er with the only RHD E34 Alpina B10 4.6 V8 Touring. IIRC he used to have one of these too

The aforementioned RS2 might not necessarily be more desirable, but it is arguably more iconic
