Looks quite aggressive with those arches and bonnet hump.

This is the first new car I have a genuine desire for in a long long time.

If they get the pricing right on this I can see it being very popular. Sub £30k and I’m interested.

I have an M4 CP, which I love, but this intrigues me - I love the way it looks and it will no doubt be an absolute hoot to drive. Rather bizarrely this could be a contender for the replacement, if it doesn't sell out (wishful thinking?), along with an 8 series or the Lexus LC, when it's time for the M4 to go back in a couple of years.

Old skool hot hatch - you have to love it!

Yup that does look suprisingly striking -- even the pretty silly front grille isn't that bad in context. Very interested to see the final result.

I've really come to like my Mk7 Fiesta ST. Never thought i'd go down this route given it replaced an (albeit ageing) Boxster. The latest ST was the natural successor to my current one....Not now though, this Toyota has real potential - hopefully.

( and just think what the aftermarket brigade could do with a small AWD 2 ltr hot hatch).

Indeed... If they really put in the 2.0t from the Lexus -- should have potential for 300 PS with a map. Golf R / Audi TTS / S3 level of performance (bit more as probs a bit lighter).

From the very limited information Toyota have passed on, apparently it is a 1.6 Turbo with 240-260 bhp.

There’s a hole in my car history, Celica GT-Four shakes, as back when I owned a couple of Celica I couldn’t afford the extra. I also have a soft spot for Toyotas having learned to drive in one, and hankering after a Supra for years, so I might be tempted to replace my Abarth 595 with one of these.

Would be even better IMO. Bit lighter nose, enough power. Official reveal is in January, right?
Edit: wonder what engine though. They don't have a FI 1.6 at the moment. New engine as well?

This is crazy but in a good way. It's like someone forgot to tell Toyota you do not need to homologate cars anymore for racing but they said. What the heck.

Hopefully this is the beginning of a resurgence for the Japanese or maybe has something to do with the Gran Turismo age coming of age?

Would love one to go alongside my ST205 as a daily drive.

If they can bring it in under £30k then that will put a cat amongst the pigeons

Good for Toyota. Certainly put more effort into their rally links than VAG and Citroen ever have done in the modern wrc.

I’ve seen a tweet mentioning from €31,000 I’m not sure how accurate that is and I guess depends on the standard vs options as to if it’s worth swapping for me.

could easily be a forevercar to trash 200.000 miles this one. I live in norway and if its a Rear-biased 4wd setup , small manual gearbox boosty car in an ocean of haldex FWD cars I think it may be a legend.

I’d expect this to cost in the £30k’s region - probably somewhere around £35k depending on spec.

Still stunned that they’ve mustered the guts to put out a 4wd 3 door hatchback. At least not a lot of competition these days!

Given Toyota’s favourable outlook on the aftermarket scene as well, this could be a legendary car.

Should be interesting, this, the Hyundai i20N a revised Fiesta ST as well as a new focus RS on the way anybody would think car companies actually listen to customers.....

Surely nobody would buy it at £35k though.

They're aiming for big sales numbers, so it'll need to be a half sensible asking price.

Can't wait to see the specs and numbers though.
