We obviously can't order it yet, we have taken a deposit though, so this person will be front of the queue when the 'book opens'
Did you want one as well?

Yes, although I’m not a fan of the ‘giving money to random dealers for an unknown amount of time’ game... Where are you based?

Had a look at the dimensions of the car...it’s bigger than I though it would be. Compared to an Audi RS3 it’s 5mm wider, 49mm taller and 348mm shorter.
19cm shorter than the latest TT too; I didn’t get a chance to check the width in comparison.

I for one am very excited about it; the very fact that it’s going to have water injection, on a road going production vehicle makes me giggle!

10/10 Toyota

Probably, on the other had I've seen so many publications confused with different weight definitions, e.g. the Fiesta ST was at launch 75kg heavier than it actually was for too long a time...

To put this in perspective the fiesta ST mk8, a car everyone praises for it's 'eager, nifty handling' is 1262kg for the 3 door version and that's FWD only.

For ref, the weight is one of the most important factors for me and literally the deal-breaker on why I didn't go ahead with the ST (it grew by 100kg between mk7 and mk8)...
Interesting you illustrated my point so well, too bad you did not get one because of the confusion. Because the new Fiesta ST is 1262kg is according to the EU definition thus including 75kg driver, while the previous gen one was quoted without. So the new ST gained, by real world scales, only about ~30kg....

Let's see what the weight definition is on this one, 1280kg kerb is ok but bit less would be even better...
I think there is some confusion on this. This was covered quite a bit on the fiesta st owners forum. It is around 100kg, both quoted figues are like for like in terms of driver.

For extra verification here's Henry Catchpole's video on it for Carfection where he specifically mentions the 100kg weight increase.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFneaU_8Ww4&t=...
Henry is a good chap, but just as everybody else was cought in the confusion because I think Ford themselves in the press release forgot to give the weight standard. I personally only trust magazines that actually weigh the cars on scales.
Auto motor und sport weighed (kerb, full tank no driver):
Previous gen Fiesta ST 180ps: 1201kg
Current gen Fiesta ST 200ps: 1206kg

It also checks out with zeperfs.com that usually list the highest measure weight by mags (depends on equipment of tested cars).

Sorry to bring the bad news - should have gotten one...

Maybe it will be a Yaris instead wink

Sounds like you are probably best waiting until later in the year to place an order then.

I have registered my intent with Toyota and also my local dealer, I am happy to wait with everyone else..

The number of cars that they need to produce won’t cause the supply/demand inflation problems of the Supra smile

Same, but my local Toyota dealer is inept in the extreme, so I'll be inquiring again in London (since this part of the South East/East Anglia is dominated by the same franchise holder for Toyota).

I don't need one of these, and my M4CP is only a year old, so absolutely no need for another car and I probably can't afford one anyway, and it would just be taking up more space on the drive.

But, but, but.........I really want one. So I will, wife pending.......

Same issues in East Anglia dealers have taken my name, hinting it will be April/May before anything more concrete and also it's a bit of a hard sell to the management because it's a 3 door and "how will my mother get in it?""

I've already started priming the idea by mentioning it is half the price of the used 911 I would like. I also have a habit of keeping cars for over a decade so buying new isn't that bad financially.
