Never owned a Vauxhall, but there's clearly a market for them, so you produce for that market. As for that particular car, I agree with earlier comments that the owner should ideally take it for an MOT test and either pass or know what the issues are, but it's a nice enough looking, decent performance providing small car that will no doubt do someone a turn.
Unfortunately, they're naturally compared with Ford. Sometime around the Focus/Mondeo Ford took their head out of their arse and started making good cars which Vauxhall haven't done yet. There's no real reason why they should be bad, they just haven't had their Focus moment.

And for some reason, they seem to attract men who are permanently angry. On a bike, they are even iffier to be around than VWs.

When/what were they out of interest? The Fords I've been in have been terrible, and age even worse.

I nearly bought one for my daughter. Reasonable power, 6 sp gearbox, discs all round, interior ok. Then I checked the road tax, it was higher than a VXR Nuburgring yikes

I tried a Nurburgring edition at a VXR day

Definitely on my radar for the future - brilliant fun

The PH snobs who only rate German premium stuff will mostly rent their cars and likely don't really have a pot to p1ss in.
The peasants corsa isn't actually a bad car for a cheapie. It wasn't expensive when new and no one pretended it was. Its a reasonably reliable cheap to fix runabout which sold in their 000's. We still take them in as trade ins and they're never around for long especially the 1.2/1.4 learner/shopping cars.
I'd sel them all day long if I had enough of them.
There's some real goofy types on here who don't seem to grasp that cars of this ilk weren't £30+k when new..

You think the same proportion of Vauxhalls aren’t bought on hire purchase as that of German cars?

You really are an opinionated fool. It is people like you that drag these forums down to neanderthal levels.

Near 150bhp in a small car for £1,500. How bad can it be? I remember cars from the 1980s so surely this Corsa has got to be fairly competent in comparison.

I quite like a good fast Vauxhall. But not this one.
And I'm delighted you can sell a few, and I'm sure people are happy with their lot. That may make it a good shopping car but it doesn't mean it makes for a desirable Shed on a site for enthusiasts.

The Mrs had a 1.0 3 cylinder corsa D in this colour when I first met her.

Absolutely gastly thing. Verged on dangerous when pulling out of junctions and sounded like a lawnmower (lawnmower probably quicker).
Only positive was that inside it was quite spacious.
Does the second paragraph refer to the Corsa or the Mrs?

Not very fast, not great handling, riddled with common issues, and drab looking.
What a sheite shed, £300 tops for me....

£300 for something that's a map away from VXR output, laugh

Yup. Weapon of the highest order.

Yes they’re cheap, my other half’s was really reliable and cheap to run but it was awful. I’m not surprised people with an interest in cars think they’re crap. My other half doesn’t really care for cars and was very happy with it, which I think suns up what they’re aimed at.

You forgot the black wheels. They normally register 10 on the chavomater but on a silver car 11.

As someone that had to once endure one of these as company car (crap job, don't ask) I can confirm that they are utter, utter garbage.

I firmly do not believe that a good car has to have a premium price tag.

I also firmly believe that they do need to be not b0ll0ck5.

I see replies about base spec. Corsa models (1.2-1.4 NA engines) etc. What about this specific version? A 1.6T Corsa for £1500 which still holds it's own against newer warm hatches.

150 BHP in a small hatch, 0-60 in 7.6 seconds. A set of good quality springs, uprated discs and pads and a remap could make this a fun car.

I'm really not seeing the issue with this SOTW. It's a £1500 Corsa.
