Whats the most annoying thing about your car?
Discussion
The nannying "change gear now" symbol on the dashboard of my Octavia.
It's annoying enough that it has to exist, but if I do a good smooth gearchange between 5th and 6th, it doesn't notice that I've changed gear.
It then sits there flashing at me to change up into 6th when I already am as I go down the motorway. The only way to get rid of it is to take my foot completely off the accelerator briefly, which rather negates the benefit of doing a smooth gearchange in the first place.

Seat Leon with the digital dash, lots of different views, status "lights" for cruise, lane assist etc and other info but something as simple as a head light icon is totally missing. Would be nice if there was something on the dash to indicate if they are on or not, the auto lights are pretty good but seems an odd thing to miss out, even more so when the instruments are digital.
I'll second that one but with the old W211 Mercedes E-class... When I first got it I thought a bulb was out, but after a lot of head-scratching with the manual and Google realised it just didn't have one. So, in grey or dusk conditions I put the lights on manually "just in case" if there isn't a handy reflective surface nearby.Speed addicted said:

Arm rest. They're just not high enough, I feel like I'm leaning quite a lot over to the left to lean on it. It's not just my car, it's loads of arm rests in loads of cars.
How high is your seat? Do you have it cranked up to the roof?RazerSauber said:

1) The digital dash is great, however it constantly shows the range left in the tank and you can't get rid - I don't want reminding of what my spirited driving is doing to my economy.
2) The auto wipers are either super enthusiastic when it's drizzling or lazy when it's peeing down
3) Whatever you set the driving mode to, it always defaults to Comfort when you turn the engine off and on. I only even want it in sport so I have to turn off stop-start and change mode every time!
4) In traffic, if a motorbike goes past it gets rid of whatever is on the screen and replaces it with the parking sensors flashing red and beeping....!

How high is your seat? Do you have it cranked up to the roof?I have to admit though, like many people I have the seat on the lowest setting (and it's still too high! - see my gripes a few pages ago), and find the armrest perfect for me, which is odd - you'd think that with the seat as low as it'll go I'd find the armrest too high. The other thing I've noticed is that with the seat on the lowest setting I'm also viewing the dials square on and have my head in the centre of the windscreen, both of which you really wouldn't expect given my average height (177cm / 5'10"). It's almost like manufacturers know what height the average person will have to seat at, design the dash around that, and choose that seat height as the lowest setting, with all the adjustment for higher seating positions. Same for steering wheels: I always have them pulled all the way out and they're still not close enough; all the adjustment is only in one direction compared to the norm.

Nissan GTR. It beeps when you put it into reverse. Not an external beep, oh no, just in the cabin. I know it is in reverse I have just selected reverse, don't need a constant beep beep to tell me!
My Century does that too. I'm not brave enough to have a rummage and snip a wire though.thecremeegg said:

I get this with my steering settings. It defaults to Standard where I prefer Comfort.3) Whatever you set the driving mode to, it always defaults to Comfort when you turn the engine off and on. I only even want it in sport so I have to turn off stop-start and change mode every time!

WTF? That is ridiculous! It's annoying enough that it has to exist, but if I do a good smooth gearchange between 5th and 6th, it doesn't notice that I've changed gear.

That would annoy the hell out of me.
Citroen C1 - very loose gear stick, couldn't do much about it either. No traction control!
X5 E70 - suspension is tough over bumps, better at high speed, but overall you would be surprised to find it has air suspension. Also things love to go wrong.
Audi A6 C6 - Ackermans angle resulting in rubbing of the wheels against the arches when at full lock and manoeuvring. Quattro system doesn't like shifting between PRND for some reason??

Fuel tank also for me on the M140i. It’s supposed to hold 52 L but in reality even running it down to 0 range on the trip computer, I’ve never managed to get more than 48 litres in. That’s just not enough for a 3 litre petrol engine.
To get much more than 300 miles out of it you have to be driving Miss Daisy. Enjoying yourself, you can struggle to see 200.
I share your pain - my E86 Z4 Coupe allegedly has a 55 litre tank, but when it got down to 24 miles on the OBC I still only manged to squeeze 49 litres into the tank!To get much more than 300 miles out of it you have to be driving Miss Daisy. Enjoying yourself, you can struggle to see 200.
Thankfully my E90 330i daily has a 63 litre tank which is much more sensible - over 400 miles isn't a problem!
The power delivery. More specifically, boost threshold/ turbo lag...
Very funny when you are doing it on purpose, irritating when you are just trying to pull away.
0psi...0.2psi... 0.3 psi....22psi - wheelspin, back off, stupid dump valve I haven’t got round to removing yet, everyone rolls their eyes.
