The RS3 saloon Autocar tested a couple of years back managed 1.7 to 30. Romping away after that like the Mac F1 though!
Even modern stuff like the Mac P1, GT-R and big 4wd AMG GTs are still taking 1.4/1.5 to 30

Second part of my reply was simply stating a fact that currently no RS2 owners in this country are willing to drug race their cars to the limit considering how rare RHD RS2s are. But in the past people did as Autocar has shown us.
My summons to the Speed Awareness Course was for 38 in a 30. The camera was on the back of the traffic lights. What the camera couldn't see was I made 38 from a standing start across the width of the junction. About 15 metres.

What a car. What an idiot.

Let me put it simply for you.

First part of my reply was to prove your statement of “Both RS2 and McLaren F1 would be in an RS3's mirrors at 30 mph today“ is incorrect.

By using the figures from both Audi and Autocar, a basic 11+ level maths would prove at 30mph in a drug race RS2 would not be in any of the RS3’s mirrors as it would only be 1.34 meter behind.

Second part of my reply was simply stating a fact that currently no RS2 owners in this country are willing to drug race their cars to the limit considering how rare RHD RS2s are. But in the past people did as Autocar has shown us.
There you go on about drugs again, are you partaking? Let me put it simply for you, a 25 year old car and a new car today, kapiche?

Various tests I found online put the RS3 at 1.4-1.5 secs to 30 mph. I've been in a standard and mapped RS3, and the launch control is quite impressive. Of course a really fast car will drive away at higher speeds.

Oh yes, they shift off the lights nicely - at the end of the day with the modern stuff I guess it depends how well the launch control is set up and the surface
Autocar did say in their full test they’d done a slightly better time in the big hot hatch test they ran......but I guess all their full tests are done at MIRA in the last few decades

Certainly
Off the lights they are quick for a standard car

30 years ago that sort of performance was spectacular in something with 5 doors

Certainly was/is. I wonder how many launches the clutch would take. As has been said, after 30 mph I expect some recent
hot hatches would be past and away.

Hmmm.

The chap who bought mine arranged to meet me at Goodwood for the Breakfast Club at 8 o'clock. And there he was, spot on 8 with the RS2 looking cool calm and collected as if it had been driven from round the corner. I asked him where he had stayed overnight. He hadn't stayed locally; he'd left home at 5 and here he was. He lived near Lands End. That's 240 miles in 3 hours. Average speed 80. Even today the RS2 is still a fast car.

Where are they going to find enough to import to make this worthwhile?
One of my favourite ever cars. I strongly considered buying one about 10 years ago, but wasn't sure about LHD only.
They made 172 RHD alongside the 1,800 or so LHD.
There are about 50-70 RHD survived...
There was closer to 2900 made in total.

Another thing that came later was the Nogaro Blue name (originally RS Blue).
Good spot. I found a list of the RS2 colours:
Amethyst Grey Pearl Effect, paint code LZ4V, Sales code B2
Blue Pearl Effect, LZ5T, Y3
Brilliant Blue, LY5K, E8
Brilliant Black, LY9B, A2
Indigo Pearl Effect (blue), LZ5U, C2
Laser Red, LY3H, H1
Pearl White metallic, LOA9, C9
Polar Silver metallic, LM7Y, D1
Ragusa Green metallic (dark green), LY6P, Y7
RS-blue Pearl Effect, LZ5M, M8
Ruby Red Pearl Effect, LZ3N, X6
Emerald Green Pearl Effect, LZ6U, M6
Vulcan Black Pearl Effect, LZ9U, W9
Some other trivia:-

RS Blau was a colour officially taken from the Porsche 993 RS of the same colour name, as were the other items we are all familiar with (Wheels /Mirrors etc).

Audi wanted to continue with the colour but Porsche didn't want Audi using the same name for it, but aloud them to continue the colour with a new name, Nogaro Blue was born in name only, still had the same code.

First Audi to get the colour with the tag Nogaro Blue was the 1995/96 Ur S6 5cyl 2.2 Turbo.

I did enjoy my brief ride in the Turbo Hearse at Newbury.
Very slight turbo lag I seem to remember.

Why there you are! I recall a conversation about boats and how the Audi wasn't going as well it could and you bracing up because you didn't think the car and I were going to manage the turn into the Halfway car park at that speed. Sorry about that. The brakes on the RS2 are brilliant.

All round brilliant. The most versatile car I've ever owned. Really disappointed to read on here it described as just having the one trick of 0 to 30. It really didn't. It had so much more. And, in amongst the quickness, was one very steady journey back from Devon when it returned 30mpg.

And the cure for the turbo lag was simply to be in a lower gear with revs high before attempting anything heroic. The way It could gather pace was extraordinary. More like a theme park ride than a car.

The RS2 figures were matched by the short-lived Minker Turbo Technics project ( based on an XR4x4 ) that Noel Edmonds opened the 1989 Top Gear Earls Court TV special with. They only sold about 9 cars though! Very expensive at the time
Tyre prices have come down a bit.

The Sierra Minker... I think I'm about to fall down a lunchtime rabbit hole:
