And the cure for the turbo lag was simply to be in a lower gear with revs high before attempting anything heroic. The way It could gather pace was extraordinary. More like a theme park ride than a car.
Driving around in a low gear with high revs, and the resultant short time on boost before having to change up a gear, isn't much of a cure. I wouldn't have looked over a decade ago if I didn't fancy one, but they were £10-15k back then. The better B7 RS4 Avant for half the money today makes more sense to me.

A bit of anticipation, change down, ready to go. I didn't mean drive around screaming the nuts off it. Either way, 2,500 to 3,000 revs and it was ready for action. Yes, an RS4 would be better value but it would mean you haven't had an RS2. It was one of two cars in forty years of driving I sold for more than I paid. Marvellous.

Bought mine for £11,000 and sold it two years later for £12,000.

And only spent £8,000 on it while I had it.

But I viewed it like a Trip Of A Lifetime; I wanted one, I had one, I really enjoyed it but I realise it doesn't bear analysis.

Missed a bit. No, I wouldn't pay £50,000 for one today.

eek I came close to buying one, but digging deeper rang a few alarm bells. The regulars on the forum went quiet when it was mentioned too

I sold a 1994 RS2 Avant to a doctor in Northern Ireland back in the early 2000s. I'm sure it was RHD?
You probably don't remember, but was he by any chance called Josef Kuriacose? If so, he still has it and drove it daily for many years.

M120 MJB is my old motor - bought it for £9800, sold it a year later for £9800. Back when prices were more sensible!

Went upto a fella in Scotland after I sold it, but it's not been MOT'd or Taxed in many years frown suspect its either been broken for parts or exported, which is a shame.

I bought my RS2 in 2015, its a 1995 model, I paid a little more than i wanted to but i really wanted it so bit the bullet, on top it look very good but had been neglected a bit underneath and there was surface rust everywhere, so nothing that couldnt be put right. Earlier this year i decided to put all that crud and rust underneath into the bin and give the underneath a full refurb, a couple of pictures of the old girl now.

No idea of value of mine but its not for sale anyway so i wont get stressed over it, as others do, its a great drive and is so "wolf in sheeps clothing", it surprises many.

Good man. I like the wolf in sheep's clothing aspect.

It does look impressive. I just don't have the patience to do similar to my 28 year old toy car though.

With mine it was a case of getting it done asap or letting it rot and losing it to the elements, i just had to bite the bullet and do it. I didnt do it myself i found a place who had blast equipment and coating, the experience, knowledge and knowhow and who came in at a decent price. I didnt really have a choice as i love the car anyway and knew i wanted to keep it.

Did the same people do the brake calipers too?

They did all of the work for me, not sure if the brake caliper re-furb was out-sourced, it might have been.
