A quick google shows the SLS amg has a 'ring time of 7:30 to the Urus' 7:47?
Besides, it's not really a Lamborghini, anyway.
Ah, my mistake. I saw there was a 7:41 for the SLS as well. Still, it's still bloody rapid!Besides, it's not really a Lamborghini, anyway.
The hate for these sorts of cars on here is quite hilarious. It seems like people are allowed to like fast estate cars but anything like an SUV is frowned upon.

That's because fast estate cars are usually about function, and are often rather discrete considering their performance. The hate for these sorts of cars on here is quite hilarious. It seems like people are allowed to like fast estate cars but anything like an SUV is frowned upon.
Fast SUV's are all about status, being as imposing as possible and dominating the dual carriageway, which is why they're so liked by Red Bull throwing, goatee-sporting, sausage-hammering, stair-dominating, powerfully-built company directors, and so breathlessly defended by those that want to be like them.
Do you have a goatee?
Besides, it's still not really a Lamborghini but a Volkswagen parts-bin special. Meh.
Fast SUVs are all about status? Why only fast SUVs? Not slow ones? Does that mean fast estates are more about status too, because you could just buy a slower one?
SUVs can certainly be more practical than an estate (ever tried getting 3 baby seats in a 5 series estate or E class wagon vs an X5 for example?).
I don't like them, I prefer estate cars, but if people prefer them, then what's wrong with that? And so what if they are not as practical? Maybe some people like the driving position and want good performance? To some, am Ariel Atom is utterly pointless because it can't take any passengers or your shopping.

Perhaps because this is Pistonheads, not orangechelseaschoolmums.netE65Ross said:
Which Audi has the same brakes, suspension set up, engine and gearbox mapping, interior and exterior as this?
I might be wrong but I think the engine is a modified version of Audi's 4 litre V8 (also used in the Porsche Cayenne and Panamera). And I think it's built on the VW MLB Platform. If I'm right, then it will almost certainly make use of other components from the VAG 'Parts Bin'.E65Ross said:

Why do you care? This is a forum where individuals express their opinions. In case you hadn’t noticed, people are free to like / not like whatever they want. Nobody has to justify their preferences.
If loads of people don’t like SUVs but do like estates then that’s what will be said.
I’m genuinely struggling to understand what you find so hilarious. The forums are people’s opinions, like it or not.

As you say, they are just that, opinions. But some people talk as if their opinion is fact. They say things like they're "pointless" or they're just for people wanting an ego boost etc as if it's a fact. What they should say is "I THINK they're pointless" or "I think the owner's buy them for a ego boost". Big difference. This is a forum where individuals express their opinions. But hardly anybody uses that correct phraseology on an anonymous public forum. When someone says “pointless” we all know that all they are sharing is their opinion as an “internet random nobody” and nothing more. They are not an authority giving fact based advice.
But I’m sure you know this
ETA I think that a fast SUV is pointless as it’s compromised in many ways to cover many bases. I’ve always had multiple cars and each is more fit for its intended purpose. Jack of all trades cars like these, I feel, are too stiff to be comfortable load luggers in the pursuit of handling and too expensive for me to lob old wardrobes in for the tip run based on my car budget. And on a fast empty road I think they are too heavy, wide, isolated and high up for me to really enjoy a spirited drive. I understand that others love them due to number on the roads and constant stream of press releases for the next one. But I’m not sure why others buy them as I haven’t asked them all. And frankly I don’t really care that much to find out. Because the person who buys this would no doubt be baffled why I’m happy driving around in an unfashionable specced Merc estate with a crappy old sports car languishing in the garage always needing some sort of work
Happy?

I think the problem here is that very few people commenting have driven one. Once you do you don’t need to talk about VAG parts bins, is it vulgar, it’s not a Lamborghini etc because after that experience you just know it’s an amazing thing to drive if you need that kind of space, I do and it’s on order. Call me what you like, I don’t give a st!

My comment about the 'parts bin' was just an observation. I have no problem with VAG using their parts or vehicle platforms, if it enables them to produce amazing cars. We should in fact thank them for it. Edited by Drl22 on Wednesday 13th November 15:03
I'm personally not a huge fan of fast 'Nurburgring' developed SUV's but have no problem with anyone else buying one. Why would I? It's your choice. Enjoy.
