I'm personally not a huge fan of fast 'Nurburgring' developed SUV's
Surely they would be best to test these things on Chelsea high street rather than the Nurburgring? End use testing could then include real world SUV problems, like how many bags of Harvey Nics shopping will the boot hold, is it sufficiently wide enough to force oncoming traffic off into the hedgerows, and are the windows tinted enough to get away with parking in a disabled space without a visible blue badge etc, etc.Andy20vt said:

You've omitted the ultimate real-world SUV test...will it leave Andy20vt standing there in his anorak, foaming at the mouth and shaking his fist at it? Without that seal of disapproval I doubt it would be worth going into production with any such vehicle.Hairymonster said:

The hate for these sorts of cars on here is quite hilarious. It seems like people are allowed to like fast estate cars but anything like an SUV is frowned upon.
Perhaps because this is Pistonheads, not orangechelseaschoolmums.netGameface said:

The reason I don't like the Urus is that Lamborghini seemingly have had to 'reverse-engineer' a sports car to fit on an SUV model. Which goes against the whole thing in the first place. I'm trying to liken it to something else, perhaps a Wellington boot that somehow needs to be a racing shoe. It might be made from better materials but it's still too big, lumbering and ugly.
People are mentioning the space inside. Okay, but it seems almost everything has been compromised, just to have that extra 10 or so inches of body in the middle. You wonder why they didn't just make an estate? It would be closer to the sports car theme as an SUV because it has a lower centre of gravity. But then it wouldn't be an SUV and that's what people seemingly want nowadays...which brings me on to the other thing I don't like; crossover type SUVs.
Having said all that, I almost think Lamborghini can get away with it, there is the LM connection and it's what Lambos are all about being big and brash. The biggest no-no for me is Ferrari - they should not be making one at all. They don't need to, and goes against everything Ferrari.

Yes, I've driven a demonstrator at an event - I can even tell you the reg no. BU11 SUV - not because I wanted to buy one, because I was offered it! I came away thinking it was a heavy lumbering thing relative to an estate or something with a lower centre of gravity. Hence my reverse engineering comment and crossover type vehicles.
It would outhandle, say, a B7 RS4 which is hardly a lumbering thing.768c said:

Was that event by any chance at Millbrook? E65Ross said:
