You could restomod one of these nicely.
An excellent idea. A well-sorted crate motor is unlikely to be a difficult fit. The market for Bricklin is probably more fanciful than fastidious when it comes to things like authenticity. And, as you say, the look still turns heads today.

The SV in SV-1 stands for Safety Vehicle and to go along with the safety theme I think one should be able to accelerate out of danger. So following the safety theme I think this nice Roush 347ci engine might be a suitable choice: https://www.roushperformance.com/engines/347-ir.ht...A well-sorted crate motor is unlikely to be a difficult fit. Those velocity stacks or vertical intakes are fabulous.Though I do see that it's an iron block and not aluminium. No matter. That would be correct for the time. And it's a Ford (as were the engines in the later Bricklins). The output is certainly very impressive: 450 hp / 420 lb ft.
Some aftermarket brakes, some updated suspension components and new bushings -- and we're in business. Might want to refresh the interior at some point.
I understand it might be part of the cars charm but I reckon if you cut-and-shut four inches out of that front bumper and surrounded it with black criss-cross mesh it'd look trick. I'm also thinking you could change those hydraulic door opening rams with the electric struts you get nowadays for quieter, more reliable operation.
