I can see why they've used the mustang name to flog this car but I don't agree / see much point with the use of the mustang name and I don't think many ford fans will either.
Just call if the Ford MACH E. There is nothing 'mustang' about this apart from the rear lights (ish) and the long bonnet (which is redundant as there is no engine).
Except that "Mach" is a Mustang reference too:Just call if the Ford MACH E. There is nothing 'mustang' about this apart from the rear lights (ish) and the long bonnet (which is redundant as there is no engine).
It's just a stupid piece of badge engineering. Ford's stylists are, frankly, bloody useless right now - it must be 15 years since they last came up with an original, nice-looking idea. Grafting needless Mustang styling cues onto this fugly electric lump doesn't improve my opinion of them.
ETA: If car manufacturers want to save the planet, they could start by finding a way to make small electric cars viable rather than creating enormous electric SUVs.
The more I look at this, the less I like it. It's another car like the Model X. It's not an SUV at all. The ground clearance looks hopeless. It's just a tall car, more like a people carrier than an SUV. But no one wants to call their fancy EV a people carrier, because people carriers aren't cool. The proportions of it are terrible. The sides are slabby and it looks too tall, while the wheels look like castors.
It would be far better to just make a properly useful electric Fiesta or Focus, but a lot of the EVs seem as much about marketing and virtue signalling as they do about being genuinely worthwhile.

They have zero interest in saving the planet unless it helps them to maintain profit margins. SUVs sell, so that's what they'll keep producing until they go out of fashion or they're told not to. The whole EV thing is a a bit of a fallacy at the moment. Building new electric cars and crushing old ICE ones isn't good for the environment, it's good for the car industry. If we genuinely want to save the planet, we need to reduce demand for people to own/use cars at all. Sadly, environmental policy and business interest are pretty incompatible.Venturist said:

Can somebody explain to me the "47 mi in 10 mins" on the right hand bottom ? That can't be its range at top speed as that's 282 mph, so what is it ?
