Hi All,

Looking for help with a Private parking £100 PCN received from UK-CPM sent to the registered keeper (registered in my name and address for the last 18 months). This is the first letter received from them, and is headed "final notice", sent last week. They claim to have sent a first notice back in October, but this was never received, and I doubt it was ever sent. The parking charge is for a date back in August.

The letter has 2 ANPR photos showing car arriving and leaving approx 1hr 30min latter. The Driver paid for 2 hours parking, but they seem to be alleging this was not paid, though the wording is rather vague. The driver is certain the vehicle registration was correctly entered, but after 2 months no longer has any receipt from the machine, if one was even given.

As this is an ANPR controlled car park, it would seem they are out of time to use POFA (14 days?) to hold the keeper responsible, as even their claimed first notice would have been some 5 weeks after the event, while the first letter received is over 2 and half months later.

Any advice gratefully received on how to make these scammers go away and not keep chasing me for a charge that is not owed?

From what I can gather, a reply stating that they are way outside of the 14 day window stipulated by POFA for an ANPR issued PCN to hold the keeper responsible seems the first step. I'm obviously not going to say who the driver was, but should also I raise the additional point that the driver paid for their parking, or simply tell them they have no case against the registered keeper and leave it at that?
