It won't up your premium if you have protected no claims. As for random deer, I guess that depends where you live. I see about 30 a day here, and regularly slam on the brakes (rather than swerve). The thing about NOT swerving I understand, but they are big buggers here that sometimes end up inside the car through the windscreen (I know of two people this has happened to), so sometimes you just have to.

Just to give you an idea of the size of them... this taken last week. You don't want this on your lap!

Had a near miss with a similar sized animal, huge thing with massive antlers. Nice very early summer morning along a country road getting a move on as it was sunny and quiet, this massive beast appeared from nowhere, 2 bounds across the road and straight over a 5 bar gate, didn't even get the chance to lift the throttle, missed by inches. Made me think what if I had left the house half a second later than I did, probably speared by those antlers.

But will up your premiums.

Now what grounds do they have for that ? It is hardly a -- you will be more likely to have another accident-- with a random deer running out.

(Honest question)

I'm in deer country and have taken out three in my time. They were all too sudden to swerve which is probably for the best as my school bus driver thought nothing of diving into a hedge or oncoming traffic to avoid a pheasant and risking 50 little lives.
If you live in deer country (as I do) you are highly likely to have more than one incident involving deer, whether resulting in a collision or hopefully avoiding it. I would say this is one circumstance where the insurers could be justified.

Living in deer country , our province is 5 x the size of England , figures for last year show 14500 roadkills . Good job it’s hunting season for a couple of weeks , wind back the population and fill the freezer all the while saving many busted up vehicles . Win win eh

Estimated at around 70,000 hit by cars per year in the UK,.
I'm sure there are loads - but I can't believe that estimate.
I can’t believe there are 70k deer in the entire British Isles let alone that number being struck by vehicles every year.
There are 1.5 to 2 million of the six native species in the UK. As I said earlier, the highest number for over 1000 years.
That's an interesting statistic - I wonder why that is?
When a mummy deer and and daddy deer love each other very much... hehe

No natural predators, not enough being culled. Simple as that.

Out of interest (or not), The Woodland Trust have just bought the hill next to where I live along with about 3000 acres and will fence the entire lot off and cull all the deer inside, so that they can reinstate the forest to how it was pre the hunting/shooting estates. As you can see, this side is pretty well forested - as it was fenced off about 40 years ago, but the other side has been completely stripped by deer.
