I seem to remember, many videos ago, that they said they got so many comments from people asking to see their watches and this is their way of satisfying the watch fans. Many of us love watches as well as cars so it's interesting to see what they're wearing. I actually think it's done in a slightly tongue in cheek way and I look out for the gratuitous watch shot in each video.
Ah, I didn’t realise. Only recently discovered the channel which otherwise I really enjoy. I like nice watches and I like nice cars. Not heard of matching one with the other before though smile

I see Sam STG, Paul SoL, Seb and JWW are doing a good old fashioned driving Q&A now Sam is back. These are usually really fun to watch, will be good to get back to some fun group stuff with them, maybe even a Ferrari road trip. Just imagine the noise!

Farah also has Harris in the latest smoking tyre podcast. Again, well worth a listen.

I've grown to like Farah. Used to find his brutal honesty just rude but I now find that's what I like about him.
It's not his brutal honesty I dislike, it's his "I'm so much smarter than everyone and my opinions have more validity because they are louder" attitude. I have been rally enjoying the Collecting Cars podcasts and hearing Harris talk about motoring journalism, but 15 minutes of TST was too much for me.

Call me old fashioned but too much swearing for me. No need for it. Just talk normally!

In all seriousness, I don't mind the British swearing to hell and back, but its just uneasy hearing Americans swear. It just doesn't feel right.

I agree, I swear like the best of them, but his style and sheer amount of swearing I find awful. Also talks over people on his podcasts to get his own point across regardless of the guests opinion which I find the most unforgivable (Harris did it a few times on previous collecting car ones). Kind of goes like this:

1) Ask a leading and provocative question.
2) Guest starts a reasoned and thought out response.
3) 10 seconds in, said loudmouth interrupts, disagrees and goes on 60 second diatribe to get to his own point anyway
4) Rinse / repeat

Yeah defo this, he hasn’t even hidden the fact and said something along the lines of this will sit on my drive and I’ll have use of it.

Seems like the Murc might also be back at SB based on the mechanic mentioning starting it up to compare exhausts, Paul shut him down very quickly.
He'll have to get UK plates on that 458 soon. I think we'll see the Murci conveniently disappear... the start-up of the Ferrari each morning with no silencers won't be appreciated by his neighbours frown

Been watching JayEmm and a great review of a Morgan, a nice change from all the supercars smile

Ian/Hubnut recently put out a very honest video about mental health concerns and how he has been affected by trying to keep daily content coming. Very brave of him and I celebrate any social media person who can help paint a more realistic picture of what the job is actually like, as opposed to the glamourised highlights reel that most people put out

In a way he's in a good place because his audience is older and don't actually expect daily videos .

However then your caught in the catch 22 of less videos less views less income

He does seem to film everything though , maybe writing a list of his bucket list destinations then spending time enjoying them before filming the next day would work better ?

I’m sorry but when I look across a range of careers and see you tubers talking of depression and what an impact it has on them, I find it a little hard to take it seriously when compared to jobs such as understaffed health professionals. I’ll admit to not knowing about algorithms (or particularly caring) but surely if the pressure is so much in recording and editing a video, just reduce your content until it’s no longer an issue?

What a douche thing to suggest with the implication that you can't do well in life working for someone else.

Trouble is they jack in there normal jobs to become full time you tubers , so less videos = less pay .

I think hubnut jacking in his magazine editorial jobs ( especially retro jap mag) was a mistake , just look how much potential content he's covered so far in new zealand .

Reduce your content, which then means you have no income, which causes stress....

Depression and stress are incredibly important issues at the moment, what you need to think is that the depression and mental health issues are already there, within the person. It's a chemical imbalance in the brain and can't be 'sorted out' easily.

Being a full time YouTuber is a very solitary job, you're either filming by yourself, editing by yourself or sitting in a hotel room by yourself a lot of the time and that is really not good if someone is prone to mental health issues. Add in the stress of making daily uploads (and honestly, if you've never done any filming/editing you have no idea, zero of how hard it actually is) and it's very easy to lose yourself inside you head and get a funk on.

I don't really get the argument about how nurses and soldiers have it worse, so stop complaining. Yes, they have incredibly stressful and underpaid jobs, it's absolutely criminal how they're treated and many of them have mental health problems too, but they're totally able to exist AS WELL as Youtubers having a hard time. It's not one or the other, and neither is more valid than the other either. They chose to be in that profession just like YTers.

My point is, don't besmirch someone just because you don't understand their profession, it's not fair to the hard work they put in.

You are joking about the nurses and soldiers ?

Nurses have patients lives in there hands , soldiers face the real prospect of being injured/killed , making a crap video carries none of these consequences .

I get it can be stressful but it's nothing like the responsibility of being a nurse with peoples lives in your hands .

You didn't read my post. I said they can happily exist alongside. In terms of mental health issues neither is more valid than the other, it's about how the brain is affected, nothing more.

I keep an eye on this thread as I occasionally appear on videos discussed here (and despite not caring what people think, I have a strange fascination about what people are saying about me!!).

I thought you might be interested in this video - I have nothing to do with it whatsoever, it just popped up for me the other night. On the face of it, it was just another piece about how much/little the protagonist was making from YouTube. However what caught my attention was that he'd managed to get an investor to pay him a lump sum and a monthly stipend to get him up and running. With the intention of making big money after two years. I seriously doubt the investor will see any of his money back!

Think he is his own investor. Just sounds better to say someone else is backing you. Hope it works out and pays off.

Reading between the lines suggests that unless you're a nurse or a solider, you're not allowed to be depressed? Quite a harsh view, isn't it?

Not at all .

My point is the consequences of some jobs far outweigh making vlogs .

The trouble is vloggers now all seem to think there entitled to have a career doing it , and when they don't hit the numbers to match the money needed to fund there lifestyle they meltdown.
