Refreshing change? A well-off posh white guy? Yeah definitely not enough of those out there.
Talking about the car, not themselves, never really thought about his colour or wealth .

I try to watch other YTs but they just talk nothing and actually have quite dull personas, as their only interest is the ablity to buy stuff, but they appeal to their audience, like instagrammers do, living vicariously through someone else's shallow life.

The guy posted was instantly different to that.
Refreshing change is he's not a complete cretin unlike several other more established rich white guys I can think of.

How many influenzars are being sent to Portugal to review the Toyota Yaris GR4 then?
Many. These channels are infectious on YouTube.

Chris Harris talking some serious sense here. Really hitting the nail on the head:

https://youtu.be/DqakvnXRbSo

I'd like more of this Harris than the buffoon TG has pigeon holed him into.

Nor me! Have just got an invite to the Mini Electric launch though. Which oddly is actually my first actual press launch invite.

I never managed to get in with BMW/MINI. Shame as I've had quite a few beemers in my time.

Without wishing to give away industry secrets hehe the key is going to the SMMT Test Days. Gets your face in front of the PRs, you can have a good chat. Just gives them a face and an actual human instead of the 100 Instafluencers emails they get asking them every day.

Exactly what Beefy said; that and the big motorshows.

5/6/7 years ago I spent a huge amount of effort trying to meet the relevant people at every show I could get to, even though nobody knew anything about social media or even had it on the radar at that time.

Your channel is good because you review different older interesting cars .

Reviewing the same cars as everyone else wouldn’t add anything.

I have to agree. Its a differentiation between you and all the other guys atm.

Oh I've done the SMMT and motor show bit. I'm quite happy with the selection of manufacturers I have access to at the moment, I've added a few new ones this year and am sure the rest will come - to be perfectly honest I more enjoy the individual owned cars anyway as they come with a great story and I'm not competing against a hundred other people all putting out a story on the same car that day.

Noting BMW was an observation, not a complaint. Apparently they're quite nice to deal with.

It's funny I do get a few comments saying "Why don't you do this exactly like this other YouTuber"... isn't variety meant to be the spice of life?

Have you managed to drop any 'PH' easter eggs in your videos yet? Or were they too subtle to spot them?

Tin of custard I feel has to appear sometime somewhere hehe

I think a tin of Birds Custard powder needs to feature unannounced and unmentioned somewhere in the upcoming Shmee man cave...

Anyone else pay for YouTube Premium? Just opened the App and they’re giving all Premium members a free Google Nest Mini worth £49. Not bad!

To be fair, that would be quite funny. I'll see what I can do and how long it takes to get noticed from when that goes live in January (fingers crossed).

Bit of a tangent, but one YouTube channel (Nerd City) did a thing of finding out how many followers his girlfriend could get on Instagram with stereotypical overly-edited "model" pictures. They claim every picture has a copy of "Photoshop For Dummies" hidden in it somewhere...

Surely just leaving a tin casually on the wing of the GT8 would work? smile

Yes, and had my google home mini about 6 months into my subscription. Currently sitting on my desk at work, unopened as I have no use for it.

By the way, the $10 a month is the best thing I did to get rid of the ads and open up other content. Worth the money.

This is a bit of a curveball to the industry in which I work:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKSKMPwwRuk

A paid promo piece for BMW's flagship M car, months before any journalist from a magazine or online will drive the M8 GC, and that's the first presentation the world sees.

I'm worried that even what I do is now quickly heading towards being out of date eek

Social media will continue to be bizarre!
