First video of his I've watched fully and clearly the record claim is bogus.

Fantastic bit of marketing for Tim’s brand, that video is being referenced everywhere I look on social media this morning within the car community

Hi Ollie it’s Tim

How fast did you go?

331mph

Ok cool thanks a lot.

How hard would that convo be? Call the bloke, Tim the fun police, thank g lessons from shmarc from getting involved in stuff that has nothing do do with him

It is incredibly common on record runs That the video is a composite of footage put together after the fact. I am not sure why that’s difficult to understand, the gps data is the only info that actually matters and Tim and the critics don’t actually have that.

Good job the USA isn’t a notoriously litigious place..

I thought the same when he threw in that the driver is a good friend!

An interesting video and it just shows that with the technology people have at their fingertips now, you really have to do well to fake these things.

I'm sure there's a strategic reason why Tim went to all this trouble though, as like others have said, it's a complete departure from his normal content.

I was always under the impression that world records had to be officiated / verified by a 3rd party.

I watched the Shmee150 video (so tim i have contributed adsense) i do find it a little hypocritical that when in the past people have asked how a youtuber with 2 million subs and around 100-300k views manages to fund such a lifestyle and start asking questions said youtuber gets very prickly and defends his dutch manager.

but it is all ok for digging out this record attempt.

maybe Shmarc wasn't happy that Tim wasn't the chosen one to pilot said attempt, So Shmarc let the mussel off Tim.

Isn't it something like 2 runs with the average being accepted?

I think Tim's video was excellent, raises a lot of questions that is for sure.

Not so simple, very easy to not involve the Driver in the hoodwinking at all. Cars he races top out around 200mph, at LeMans with trees everywhere. I don't think he'd be able to tell the diff between 270mph and 330mph in a wide, flat, featureless desert.

The GPS data is absolutely not the only thing that matters, you have to look at all available evidence.

Do you not think if they where trying to hide the true speeds that the driver might have to sign maybe an NDA agreement.

Maybe, but then why would he do the job? He doesn't seem like the type of guy to deliberately take big risks with his reputation. After the run he very specifically mentioned he didn't know how fast he went until told...

Sorry, you are suggesting that a professional racing driver would not be able to sense the difference of 60mph , especially when very north of 200mph?? Even with reduced visual clues, a professional driver would sense speed.

Not a snidey question, but is it possible to trick GPS data? Or are we saying that they have just manually manipulated the figures?

As said above, it would be a bit silly for the driver to involve himself within a conspiracy to deceive, but he would know if he ‘only’ reached 270mph.

They have said there was more to come so presume more runs are planned and all this drama will ensure they get it properly verified next time and pay Guinness their appearance fees.

Or they will disappear into the sewers if it’s all BS.

No.

But they didn't validate the Bugatti attempt either.

I’d find it highly unlikely Ollie Webb couldn’t distinguish between the two speeds quoted above! That’s a world away.
