That's not true. Archie Hamilton really didn't like his either saying he "just didn't gel with it".

In this video he says 'so many good things about it, i dont know where to start. Gearbox is so instant, its like bang, click click click. Its squirming around and thats something I have just missed. ITS JUST SO MUCH FUN'. Does that sound someone who doesn't like it?
Yes, he makes subsequent videos about elements he doesn't like but that's just for the ad rev.
Jayemm talks about a real lag in the steering which must be a dud car, never noticed that at all.

Here's the thing - it's very possible for both people to be right. There was an issue with the steering in the car I drove, a very noticeable one.
Perhaps that's not meant to be there (in fact almost certain of it) - but I have to review the car as I am given it.
I would not be doing my job if there was this big thing I had a problem with but didn't mention it because nobody else had.
As for BMW not answering my emails, they've been not answering them for a long time before my M2C video.
Porsche let me have a go in their cars and look what I've said about them.

Jayemm, glad you responded and I am glad you are being honest as you see it. I am simply saying I don't agree and that's now how I feel (and several other ex and current lotus owners) feel about M2 steering (plus some of your other comments about just buying them because its a good deal). All the best. Perhaps that's not meant to be there (in fact almost certain of it) - but I have to review the car as I am given it.

Just watched jww Aston/highland video I don’t get why more of these ‘tubers’ don’t do such trips it’s only a few hours away and some glorious roads and scenery were you could actually stretch the legs of your car a bit but most of them would rather creep about London! Some of these cars are wasted and they should all be given to me.

The unfortunate answer would be because its a lot of effort for relatively little reward. bobbysmithy said:

Absolutely. But 'not gel-ing' with a car does not necessarily mean he doesn't like it. Just moved it on as they found a buyer / get more ad rev and make more vid's.bobbysmithy said:

I don’t see that it liking the car’s that unreasonable a position.I bought an early M2 new, and asked the dealer to buy I back three months later, as it just didn’t do it for me. I switched for an M3 instead, which I got on with far better.

But James didn't stretch the legs of the DBS in that video. He cruised around gently, mostly with the camera on his face or the scenery - and incidentally never with two hands on the steering wheel. As someone who would love to drive up that road in a dbs [or indeed any other car) I found it quite a frustrating video. Indeed, it is pretty well impossible to stretch the legs of a quick car legally on UK public roads.Road trips have been quite difficult to organise during this pandemic year.
If YouTube is the way you make your living, it makes sense to look at the financial return you get on your time and on the miles you put on your cars. And if you rarely put miles on your supercars then actually you are treating them like the majority of buyers.
If you're a real car and driving nut who happens to make your living from YouTube then you probably take your DBS to Scotland or your SLS Black to the Ring - and as a result you probably appeal to a slightly different audience than the ones who like to watch supercars in the city.

I do enjoy making the odd bit of content which I know is mostly for my personal enjoyment, I did a road trip to Scotland myself last year - its just for most of the YT crowd they're playing to their audiences. Nothing wrong with it really, just depends on your market and how you view what you do.
I make a number of videos knowing they won't do well, because I want to and because I do have a core audience who enjoy them (eg. The recent Audi heritage videos)
What works for one of us might not for another. Sam's channel as an example always had more of a travelogue vibe about it - hence DTW and I personally think he would have been a better choice to spearhead the oddly short Piloti Scotland trip.
At my current earnings if I was to make a Scotland trip financially viable I'd need something like a half million views on it at least. If you're only doing one video that's not a guarantee even for JWW etc... and I expect he didn't do this one for financial reward.
Next year I hope to take the 550 to Maranello to get "that" photo at the factory gates and that'll no doubt be similar for me - something I would have done happily without a camera rolling but which I'll film because that is what I do
