RE: Aston DBS special marks 50 years of Concorde

Sorry, but 300+ grand buys some serious stuff.
Aston Martin would love to be in the Ferrari league, but they ain't.
Tina Turner is 80 today, maybe they could have a tie up.
The Aston Martin DBHasbeen: glory days back in the sixties and seventies, resurgence in the eighties and nineties but now best fondly remembered for what they used to be. fking Concorde, for Christs sake.

Here’s a desperate marketing department trying to shift a few cars to make a few more quid! Are Aston that desperate to attempt a limited edition vehicle to an aircraft that was grounded 16 years ago? I really can’t see the link.... or should we ask the designer, Mr Austin Powers?
Finally, could this be the start of a long goodbye to an Aston model that has graced the roads for many years and thus will soon (like Concorde) be grounded?

Firstly, I don't think this is Aston per-se - more like a local dealer trying to:-
(1) ingratiate themselves to AM
(2) trying to replicate the Red Arrows (which I think hit the mark and every one after will be just a little bit more meh than the previous)
(3) create some mad rush to sell some extra cars and
(4) make their end of year numbers
As said Simon did a great job on the Red Arrows - but all of these specials is beginning to remind me of British Leyland/Rover/MG
Personally, I think this one looks rather ordinary. I wonder how long before we see a DBX with some sort of aeronautical special theme
When I searched how many limited edition Minis (as they always had a load of them going on) I found this just to highlight the problem at least in my eyes:

I’ll openly admit I’m not in the market for this or any other AM ‘cept maybe an old DB9 coupe on budget. It seems no anniversary is sacrosanct so I’m looking forward to the 50 year celebration model of the IOW Festival, The Beatles disband edition, the Aswan Dam special, 18’s get the vote Volante, The 747 Virage, Thalidomide damages Vanguish, Bridge Over Troubled Waters Bulldog etc etc

Yea definitely not in the same league, AMs don't come with switchgears that start melting after 5 years of use or plastic bits unashamedly scattered around the dash or the level of drivetrain dependability beffiting a race engine... Oh yes, Ferraris are race bred so they have a point I guess.Aston Martin would love to be in the Ferrari league, but they ain't.
