Mercy! Does the PH business model teeter so close to catastrophic financial loss that employing a full-time sub editor would sink the ship?
I’m sure there’s a decent article beneath Mr English’s - ironic name of the year nominee 2019 - salvo of typos, but it’s a tedious quest.
Meanwhile, the Smoking Tire’s (not a typo) vid of an RS6 devouring LA’s canyon roads is well worth a look:

Got halfway through that diabolical article and thought I’d scan the comments instead to get a feel for what the car is actually like.
Am I the only one that misses quality buttons in cars? All these screens are doing my head in. There’s nothing premium or luxurious about it. It’s cheap junk!
Anyway, with that off my chest - epic car, although the looks are a little bit OTT for me. The RS6 has always been quite reserved but this seems to push that a bit.

I wonder how the ride is, in the U.K., on those wheels. I suspect I already know.
I had a ride in the last gen RS6 and I’m pretty sure I could feel the manufacturer’s name cast into the cats eyes we skipped over.
Quite like the way it looks though!

Interesting, you drive a Superb 280. A large performance car, not too dissimilar to the RS6, AWD and a turbo charged engine.
I can only assume you drive regularly on the auto bahn, don't mind the expense of fuel or worry about the environment... otherwise you would have a lesser version of the same car, or a smaller car?
The new RS6 just looks right in my eyes. Performance wise it appears to be very fast. The weight is fine IMO, how light do you want your super saloon to be??

It's a relatively rapid family barge, which is nearly half a tonne lighter than this and with well under half the power. It's also nearly a third the cost and will do 35mpg fairly comfortably on a run. And it's also plenty fast enough on UK roads. Which is exactly why I was asking what the heck the point of this is. For the power, it's too big to hustle on UK roads, and too expensive / pointless to take on track (why wouldn't you buy a lesser A6 and a Caterham?). And the article claims that the "ride jiggles and the steering feels inert."
I'm sure it's crushingly competent, but so is a lesser S6. These halo models used to be aspirational things, because you could actually use their performance on the road. They are now so overpowered, vast and heavy that they seem to mostly exist as a pretty pointless dick-swinging exercise. They've managed to add over 150kg between generations here! In fact, I think the power to weight may actually have gone down. It's not what I'd call appealing progress.
Having traded out of the previous generation RS6 into a Panamera ST I suspect that I fall into the target demographic for this car. And I love what they've done. The tech looks excellent and they've concentrated on the main failing of the old model- dynamics. The Panamera has FAR better handling, and is really agile through the twisties, whereas the old RS6 is a blunt instrument. The only thing I miss from the RS6 are the looks and the heads up display.
Of course these massively powerful family wagons are an anachronism, but they're a huge amount of fun, and it's the knowledge that whatever the circumstance, you have all that power and grip at your disposal that's so addictive. Five up you can do the same things as when it's just you driving it. As good as it gets for this type of car.

Its starting to like like a caricature of an RS 6.
Funny how the wheels, the body blisters and the kit gets bigger but the engine smaller and 0-60 times tiny.
I think the original was how Audi did well it was only a couple of badges, subtle flared arches, exhaust and tasteful wheels. But that isn't the target market any more I guess

The C5 RS6 Avant was a large, heavy awd estate with prominently flared arches riding on large wheels, pushing out big power for the time at 450hp, the new one is just an evolution of that concept, the target market will still be anyone looking for those things in a car. justa1972 said:
Catchpole (and Carfection in general) is pretty damn good!
I love the looks of the Audi. But the associated undesireable grief they can attract makes it a hard choice
Don't like the E63 (or indeed any current MBs!) And the Porsche ST always makes me worry that you wont get REALLY big stuff in the bag. Or a couple of bicycles like the other 2.
I wonder with this new RS6 arriving, if the thieves will now ignore the older car a bit more? Presumption being those who are happy with a stolen car want newest and shiniest to appeal to their "M8s"
