Regarding the VED, the £2k figure is included in the on the road price, so while it is very much there you see it as part of the overall price of the car (like with options). After that it will be circa £540 for 5 years, subject to government increases and then after that will be circa £145 for the rest of it's life, again subject to government increases.
In short, after 5 years it will be a bloody bargain on VED!
After 5 years it sounds like a monumental financial risk, the VED will be the last thing on my mindIn short, after 5 years it will be a bloody bargain on VED!
I'm all game for a risk in the 2nd hand car market but that car when it goes wrong will make my C5 seem like a relative bargain to run.
One to keep for the warranty period.
Such a shame the subtle aggression has been replaced with overt in your face aggression. But then I guess that's what the target market demands

I think the problem is that Audi’s cooking models, especially in SLine trim, are so aggressively styled these days that the RS models have to go over the top to differentiate themI'm all game for a risk in the 2nd hand car market but that car when it goes wrong will make my C5 seem like a relative bargain to run.

My point was the original was relatively subtle over the ordinary A6 Avant. The new one isn't subtle in the slightest, despite sharing the A6 bodyshell. The look has evolved for different people IMO.
I agree. Not a Q-car, which is what I would prefer. But then I'm not the target market.Had the previous RS6 and loved it. Was hanging on for this one and borrowed a new Avant to see if dog would fit. Sadly it wouldn’t and so we’ve an E63S estate which easily accommodated dog and some luggage. The squarer back on the Merc helps immensely.
Hopefully the chassis changes catch up with the Merc now as it was a blunt instrument with shocking brakes for the performance. E63S almost playful in comparison.
Will say the 9 speed gearbox on the E is worse than the ZF8.

I drove 600 miles from Eastern Germany to Calais yesterday in my Brabus E63s.
It absolutely gobbled the journey up and was the first time I have done serious Autobahn miles in it - ran out of bravery at 161mph and choked a little on the 17mpg average across the 7 hours.
But .......
Germany is the natural home for these big wagons and frankly other than on acceleration between drops in pace/build ups of traffic my 700bhp was no quicker than anybody else in a big powerful (usually TDi) barge who had the balls to sit at 130-140 (and beyond) for miles on end.
That said there is still something really cool (IMO) about the mega estate car with all the power and grip others have mentioned.
Tis new RS6 is a mixed bag visually for me, front looks ace, rear looks ridiculous, exacerbated by the chrome trim.
All that said I'm going to try one out and see what it's like.

Yes, it's an odd piece, I picked out a few errors and inconsistencies myself.
RS6s have never been fitted with Lamborghini engines either. A common misconception but easily confirmed as just that.
So the RS6 V10 engine with the Lamborghini Bull logo on the front of the engine block and various other places is wrong then RS6s have never been fitted with Lamborghini engines either. A common misconception but easily confirmed as just that.

I wish they did a RS4-R with this engine and the slightly smaller shell of the A4. The 6 just strikes me as big enough to be a PITA, which was exactly the reason we ditched the Model X.
I agree with this, I owned a B8 RS4 prior to my current RS6 PE and miss the nimbleness of the 4. Parking and negotiating country lanes has been one of the downsides of owning an RS6, the new car is slightly bigger again and I wonder when manufacturers will bring an end to this crazy practice. I like the look of the new car, but would have to tone it down, my current car is grey with no badges and doesn't attract too much attention, at the moment the odd configuration options don't allow for debadging and if you want brown leather you have to have the awful silver details. Considering the bling that is stuck on all new cars these days, that’s almost a sleeper! Owned for 9 years now.

Hello Audi,
Here's what we'd like.
All of the RS6 in a stock A6 body with nothing that says 'I want to be stolen'.
Your sincerely,
The Drivers.
PS: A Skoda Superb with a Golf R engine doesn't really cover it, but we appreciate the nod.
The axles are wider so this wouldn't work. Here's what we'd like.

Really nice from a time when an RS6 could be described as a q car.Owned for 9 years now.

Have you ever taken it to Stoke Park Golf Club and pretended to be Daniel Craig in Layer Cake?

I'm not so sure, back when that was new it had bigger wheels, massively flared arches, bigger intakes, an RS6 badge and huge fk off oval exhausts. The fact that many modern cars look so aggressive may be the reason why the modern RS6 appears so "in your face"...?Have you ever taken it to Stoke Park Golf Club and pretended to be Daniel Craig in Layer Cake?
