Daily driver; how do you do it?

Literally in exactly the same boat as you (hot hatch and V8).
Every year around this time I start thinking I don't need the V8 and I should save some money but as soon as we get that first sunny day in March it reminds me that the extra cost is absolutely worth it.
Superb, what have you got? Mines a Mk7 Fiesta ST and an E92 M3.Every year around this time I start thinking I don't need the V8 and I should save some money but as soon as we get that first sunny day in March it reminds me that the extra cost is absolutely worth it.

Daily driver was an XFR (V8) with an Elise for the weekends.
Sold both to buy an Alpine A110.
The Jaguar was great but the Alpine is a lot more fun, love driving to work now.
PS except I didn’t sell both , couldn’t bear to let the Elise go.
Now it’s Alpine as a DD and rotating weekends for Elise and Alpine ??
I do wonder if an Alpine is on the cards in the future – a mini Mclaren in my eyes.Sold both to buy an Alpine A110.

How are you getting on with it? Are you a manual man usually, does it phase you it isn’t? Appreciate that’s perhaps the most obvious comment to make about them – they’re such a breath of fresh air, I’ll be following Dan Prosser’s on here carefully.
Cheers for the replies, good to hear about differing methods. These days I tend to think life’s too short to spend it in a boring car, but then it is a bit of a waste using for example a M car on the commute! Appreciate these are very much first world problems.
Loving the range from GTI-6 (lovely) to an Alpina – fantastic.
One thing that often occurs to me is that soon we’ll all be driving either very heavy hybrids or pure electric so I’m trying to enjoy enthusiasts cars whilst we still can and dinosaur juice hasn’t been outlawed.

Until last year, for decades I have always had at least a daily and a sportier car along with a company car. More free time, meant I came to realise its good to be in the right car for the journey, able to tackle most jobs and it be able to make me smile if an opportunity arose.
Of course its a compromise but, whilst I have wavered a couple of times I am happy so far and think, for me it's the right decision. I went from a 535d estate and a GTR to an E63s estate. Seemed a good fit.

But saying that i have used nearly all my cars as daylies ,the list includes,3x sierra cosworths, lancia delta integrale, fiat strada abarth, astra gte 16v, 205 gti turbo technics, pulsar gtir, bmw m3 evo, golf vr6,corrado vr6, golf g60, golf g60 rallye and the list goes on.
There is something very liberating about running a banger though, you never really worry where you park it.

I've had a couple of really cheap Mondeos over the years(so that I can keep my second car nice) and I agree. I loved the fact that I could park/leave them anywhere and not worry about them. cerb4.5lee said:

BMW G30 540i xDrive.
Comfort - check
Luxury - check
Practicality - check (comfort, space, 4 doors)
Refined - check
Big boot - check
All weather ability - check
Pace - check (335bhp with similar torque from low down in the rev range)
Fun - check (as much as a quiet but fast capable big car can be)
Discrete - check (I can park this in places I would think twice about parking something more exotic)
If you gave me a "check" on could I get mountain bikes or the dogs in the back I'd have said your car is perfect. But hey, BMW do a lovely 5 Series Touring. Comfort - check

I used to have a Fabia 1.2tsi as a daily driver and track car. Got to the point where going any further with the Fabia would have been a massive waste of money so got rid of it.
Now have a £950 Peugeot 607 as a daily. It’s a big barge which can still return 55mpg. It’s super comfy and quiet with heated leather and double glazing. It has acres of room for everyone plus a massive boot.
The fun car is a mk2 MX5. I’ve only just bought it, but it’s going to be modded for track days/sprinting. So far it’s been a fun weekend car and driving both makes me appreciate them both more.
