alcantara is the worst material possible for a steering wheel, with 6 months taking delivery of my AMG it was glued down and shiny
You guys must all have clammy hands - had an Alcatara wheel on my previous CGTS and even after a year it still looked like new. Plus it was a welcomely warm material during the usual UK weather. I'd have it on any surface in a heartbeat.

In my experience alcantara steering wheels usually last a couple of years before they ideally need a clean, but I guess it does depend greatly on how often drivers pick their nose at the helm biggrin

The important thing is that with a little care, they clean-up good as new. I love them, and I think most folk don't realise they can be cleaned and end up looking newer than any worn, shiny leather rim.

This. I hate alcantara. Wears quickly, looks dirty. Possibly the worst material ever for a car interior.
But it is absolute cash and absolute chaos and it lets people know that I have a big tool box.

It's sad that BMW think that they have to end production of the i8. It's still a unique looking, and unique idea of car.

I don't think it was a massive sales success and IMO didn't seem to have the halo effect the R8 did for Audi.

Love the shape so refreshingly different from acres of bland Transit van white BMW's or the rather harsh blue used on M & pseudo M cars. Perhaps if the i8 had had a nice noisy exhaust so it 'sounded' like a sporting car it would have excited a few more.
