RE: Audi S8 (D3) | The Brave Pill
Discussion
Hi, I have the s8 v10 and love the car I had the bmw m6 v10 before I bought the Audi the m6 was much more powerful but never had the ride of the Audi, the Audi around town is a lot worse on fuel than the m6 but a lot better on fuel on a long run, I’ve had no problems with the Audi what so ever, but then again I’ve done the decarbonisation done the gearbox oil & filter and keep on top of the engine servicing, this is stuff you would do to most cars, so don’t be put off buying one of these car buy someone who is scared to put their hands in their pockets and want trouble-free motoring all their lives, these cars are for serious drivers not for girlie motorists, peoples that go on about how much it costs to run these car most probably have never owned one, I suggest they stick to their little fiestas,

Cool story bro,Massive amount of performance and bravery kudos for the price.
Personally, I'd avoid this one though (although can't argue with the value for money) as no mention of service history and the wrong wheels totally spoil any Q-Car potential - I'd want to know why they were changed - possible previous prang? I'd also be investigating the tyres very closely too as there may be an instant bill replacing all 4 so that they match and are a trusted brand (wouldn't want to mess about with saving money on tyres with all that power).
... just noticed, too, the front windows have a heavy tint... yes, now I'd 100% walk away.... I still think these are great cars but just not this one for me.

Wow, an S8 has worse fuel consumption around town than an M6?? The two things that put me off were the carbon ceramic brakes, although they last forever on a big heavy car they will wear at about the mileage of this car, I believe replacement was about £10-12 K when I investigated ownership costs.
The other was the dreaded oil leak, a small round oil seal that cost about a £1 requires the engine to be removed to replace it, I understood the cost was about £3K for this job.
I'm all for buying bargain priced power luxo barges my V10 diesel Phaeton didn't cost much at all in the time I had it, although performance was nothing near this incredible car.
I guess my philosophy of buying well and hoping for years of trouble free motoring applies here, and if it does go wrong be prepared to throw it away.

Not my sort of car, but I imagine with ownership it would be wortn dropping the engine and doing all the preventative maintenance in one go. A bit like the lotus esprit: more then 2 jobs, remove the engine..The other was the dreaded oil leak, a small round oil seal that cost about a £1 requires the engine to be removed to replace it, I understood the cost was about £3K for this job.

Surely if you had a minor oil leak but the cost to fix was £3k and it’s a “cheap” car you simply keep topping up the oil unless it’s gushing out.
