second engine just for sounds?

what would the point be? I don't think hearing a 20,000 RPM bike engine all the time is something most people would want to hear. Also, wouldn't be very green really, would it?
Especially as a 20k rpm bike engine presumably means a 2 stroke I prefer Musk's idea, who wouldn't want the Pythonesque sound of coconuts? https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/11808784962240...

just wondering has a car manufacturer ever put a second engine in that wasn't actually connected to the drivetrain just to beef up the sound a bit?
people are complaining about modern exhaust notes a lot these days so what's to stop a 20,000rpm bike engine being stuck at the back hidden somewhere to accompany the noise?
Some manufacturers should start offering discounts on blow up dolls to strap in the passenger seat. Just to pretend some people have actually got a girlfriend.people are complaining about modern exhaust notes a lot these days so what's to stop a 20,000rpm bike engine being stuck at the back hidden somewhere to accompany the noise?

in essence this is what I was talking about as oppose to creating fake sounds in the cabin it might sound insane but I remember watching a mclaren documentary and they put a lot of effort into creating and adjusting the engine/exhaust to create a pleasing audible noise
my point is in these of days of fake noise within the cabin why not create a similar experience out of it which technically would be authentic as it'd be coming from a small engine
just a thought and not as mental imo as people seem to think here

Stop, have a sit down, perhaps a nice cup of tea, and think what a making noise with a small engine would sound like. it might sound insane but I remember watching a mclaren documentary and they put a lot of effort into creating and adjusting the engine/exhaust to create a pleasing audible noise

Clue - it would sound like a small engine.

Sitting down having a cup of tea thinking about how I’ve seen 125cc engines on quad bikes so loud they set off car alarms and drive people absolutely insane, probably the loudest vehicles I’ve ever heard in my life. To answer your question Clue - it would sound like a small engine.
Just for sounds ? What a waste, when you can have it for constant boost without turbo lag.
Nic Mann has a long history of very special cars which he built and raced,
the most mental one was his hillclimber, 4cyl turbo with heli aux turbine spooling up the turbo.

For a strange reason, I cannot watch almost all other of his videos, somehow blocked internally.

Not sure why it needs to be a 2 stroke.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwyksKx6txo

Is it a nice noise though? And would
It sound right in something big enough to cope with fitting a second engine for noise.
What biscuits are you having?

It's not insane to augment/tune the sound from the exhaust or even to put speakers in the exhaust like Audi did, but it is insane to add an additional engine to just make a noise, a small engine? How's that going to sound like a thundering V8 or are you trying to replicate a Kia Picanto's sound? it might sound insane but I remember watching a mclaren documentary and they put a lot of effort into creating and adjusting the engine/exhaust to create a pleasing audible noise

It is mental BTW.
I knew I'd slept in, but I didn't realise I'd slept in until April 1st...
Unless the OP is actually being serious, in which case they have such a devastating lack of understanding of cars that they should hand in their driving licence immediately, move to a remote island somewhere and never, ever speak again.

I give you the Chaparral 2 J , which raced in 1970 Can Am . Engine number one was a thumping great Chevy V8 , but engine number two was a little two stroke which drove the bloody great fans which gave the car ground effect , and eight years before the Brabham F1 fan car . In the footage I have seen you can even hear the irritating little buzz over the Chevy's rumble .

Thanks, but no one asked for it?There have been plenty of fan cars, the only difference wih that one being that it is an IC motor rather than an electric one.. It's not really related to the OP's question.
