Always loved these. Were damn close to an M3 when they were new, and I definitely know which is the better proposition to run as a ten-year-old.

So, this 5.0 V8 Lexus, or a C63 with its raucous 6.2 V8? Decisions, decisions...

I’ve owned both an IS-F and two S204 C63 AMGs. Both have their pros and cons. The second stage of the two stage induction system of the Lexus sounds superb whereas the exhaust noise of the C63 is unmatched for the money. Imo the C63 is slightly torquier lower down and the IS-F has better brakes.

The article is grossly inaccurate with regards to oil change and service intervals though. From memory the service interval (and oil change interval) is 12,500 miles - minor and major services alternate with additional operations at 60k and 100k so those are more expensive.

just over a year of ownership into mine and I adore it, I have made a few performance upgrades, lighter wheels, coilovers, floating bells and rotors, Haywood and Scott exhaust and a remap, I LOVE IT!

Another IS F fan here, I've had mine for 2 years now, I absolutely love it, especially the rarity factor, they sound great once the exhaust have been opened up a little (I had a valve fitted).
It's also been cheap to maintain, aside from the yearly services, all it's needed was a headlight bulb, set of front discs/pads, 1 tyre and a new battery.

Yep, spot on.

What are the thoughts on early and later cars? The market is pretty small, and the price difference is significant (when the later cars do turn up)
There are a couple of key differences as well as a few minor ones. The most significant is the LSD which comes standard on MY 2010 onwards. They also come with a revised suspension that provides better ride quality but I wouldn't worry about it much because a set of Ohlins coilovers will be a great improvement in handling and ride on both early and later cars. You also get a LFA-like tachometer on the later model and a different colour scheme as well but those are not so important I guess.

5100 cars made according to the article.

I assume USA had a lot of them ,so how many in UK ?

Not a common sight at all.

This is a lovely piece of kit and still looks good 10 years on. It's odd that there's a snow mode for the UK market but can see the value in many euro countries where snow is almost guaranteed. I'd have one.

All the snow mode really does is turn down the throttle response significantly. I have only used it once when on a single track road in light snow and it did help.
I fitted an Apexi throttle controller to mine which bridges the gap between normal and sport mode really well and really sharpens up the throttle response on the higher settings. Really good mod for ~£100. I've also managed ~35MPG a few times on longer journeys using the ECO modes.

Quite interesting cars these, always keep an eye out for one. Who did you get to remap the car? A US based flash map?

Wow. Right there, that's probably the biggest news I've read.

35 mpg for a big heavy v8 with Lexus quality. I'm lucky to get near that in my LS, which has a lot less power, but is quite aerodynamically efficient. I knew the ISF was good. I didn't realise it was THAT good.

I've only managed mid 30's a handful of times, but when I was commuting regularly i averaged around 30 which I thought was pretty good.
