I remember seeing a programme by Clarkson years ago on the Japanese motoring scene.
In a motoring supermarket there was a range of expensive alloy wheels with totally random English words engraved around the rims. Not unlike the yoovs with cool tattoos that turn out to mean "Chinese takeaway".

Which doesn't make a lot of sense as the majority actually speak good English.

,,, with Austin Ambassador as a runner up.

What ? Ambassador is a great name, and not a terrible car, I mean it's John Shuttleworth's favoured mode of transport.
Vauxhall did a Viceroy which is ironic given a lot of cars are now being made in India.
Victor should have been a strong name but it wasn't.

Not a car, but whoever in Honda came up with the name Fireblade deserves a mention. What a great name.

The Toyota Alphard springs to mind as something daft.

They also have fabulous names like Vellfire, Tank, Roomy and, of course, Mega Cruiser.

following on from that, I like that after Honda launched the Blackbird, Suzuki followed up with the Hayabusa...

Hayabusa is the Japanese name for the Peregrine Falcon, a bird which not only has the fastest vertical dive (180mph I believe) but also is known to eat Blackbirds.

I know, but preceded by "Holden" makes it sound somehow better.

And don't forget the Opel Kadett!

REO Flying Cloud. Otherwise than to imply that Silver Clouds don't fly, I guess there wasn't any reason to name it like that.
