Something tells me that putting [people who think they can drive in] 500 + bhp is a boat of an SUV ain't a good idea.
Just watched a bit of that and the first thing that came to my mind was here are 3 words that simply should never be put together

X3 Competition Pack. A what?!

I don't like SUV's but I understand why people buy them but come on, what the hell would a big daft high-up heavy tank need a 'Competition pack" for?

The only competition its going into is who is the biggest show off on the high street

Sweet spot for power in an SUV would be 350 bhp (think Audi SQ5 or X3 M40i)
two finger steering, tt

Because brand new cars just randomly spin 360 for no reason. 100% had esp switched off. (Ok maybe allowing for a genuine fault 99%)

At least the two finger steering is very very slightly better than the no contact with the steering wheel at all that occurs a number of times in the video. He states he considers himself a good driver!!!

On the off chance LLF plows into one of your family members and kills them, then come back and say we are all old men who are miserable blah blah blah.

I'm not all that fussed on how he talks but i am fussed on how he has absolutely ZERO consideration for anyone else on the road when driving like a lunatic, and anyone in the know like you'd expect a Automotive YouTuber to be like would know that doing 100mph+ on ditch finders with a 600bhp+ car in this weather has "testing your luck" written all over it

Then add to the fact that he then sticks it on a massive platform like YouTube for all the "Sik innit bruv" brigade to comment who see his videos and replicate what he does because it's cool innit?

I have had albeit a long time ago had 2 friends on 2 seperate occasion's die because of morons just like LLF and alike all from reckless driving, without going into big details, one of them died from someone travelling at 80mph on a 30 and ploughed straight into him, the other died from someone doing almost 90mph and went head on into him when approaching a corner and couldn't stop in time, the latter dying instantly and leaving his pregnant wife and unborn daughter who was due a couple of weeks later.

So sorry if that makes me a miserable old bd but that's why people like me get angry.
Quite right. I commented on the video, pretty much saying you got off lightly, you didn’t take anyone with you you . Count yourself lucky, fk off and find something else to do with your life, before you really cause a st storm. It didn’t go down well, but I don’t care. This prick needs to fk off before he kills someone,

Blokes a bellend

Anyone thats watched his videos knows what hes about so his "the car lost control" comment is exactly where i lost all little sympathy i had for the idiot.

I watched an Evolve video on the X4M last night and some bloke commented saying he didnt like the car as it tried to kill his brother.

Evolve replied with the "the car or the driver"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cef_gd8iibU

Watch these guys provoking it on a track its an animal and should be treated that way because its going to to bite

Does look like it could be a little snappy based on that video, would imagine that's ESP fully off and a fairly skilled driver on a circuit, can certainly see how it could go wrong in a confined space if you try stuff like that. Loads of power, masses of grip, lots of weight and a high C of G.

It's the switchable AWD that's catching people out as you can tell from the track footage it becomes very rear wheel driven and when you select that you also get MDM on the DSC which will not save you if you get it wrong.

I drive mine like I drove my RWD M cars making sure the wheel is straight before accelerating.

I think some drivers just put a bit too much faith in modern cars complex driver aids and 4 wheel drive systems and think they can go at any speed and the car will defy the laws of physics. This idea of thinking falls flat on its face when someone puts a tree in your way.

My impression of the X3M is that it had overly hard suspension and an engine that got it to dangerous speeds in a very short amount of time. Badly maintained uneven and greasy/wet roads on unforgiving low profile tyres are not going to do most cars any favours let alone 2 tons of hard sprung SUV going too fast. It still boils down to driver error though when it all goes tits up.

The moral here is don’t buy an X3M unless you are fond of Sunday driving ...or coffins.

The problem with short test drives is you end up knowing very little about the car....as above.

Jeez.

2 tonnes. 500bhp.

250bhp/tonne.

High CofG.

M car.

High perf summer tyres.

Idiots turning driving aids back a notch in winter on wet stty public roads.

What do people expect?

It’s not the car, it’s the drivers who think they’re better than they are.

If anything, all these crashes tell me the X3M is “good” as a driving machine.
It doesn’t massage your ego, it demands you pay attention and respect it.

Let's be honest to end up like that they wasn't doing 30mph with all driver aids switched on and the whole "car lost control" bks is exactly that bks.

I wonder if perhaps all the modifications, power/torque, stiff suspension, brakes, low profile tyres etc prevent the driver aids working correctly/effectively (if enabled), I wonder if its something people who modify cars test ?

Nah, I think you're just going faster when the laws of physics cannot be overcome by the driver aids.

I just don’t understand these type of cars. Why have 2 tonnes of high C of G with 500bhp and stiff suspension active anti roll bars etc. It’s like creating your own problems and then trying to engineer all the problems back out.

If you want a suv then accept it should have soft barge suspension waft along in comfort and quite. Munching miles whilst towing whatever you want.

If you want 500 bhp of tarmac shredding then buy a car designed for it.

I just don’t get combining the 2 other than willy waving. We have a guy locally who has a Range Rover SVR is some metallic blue decatted and on straight pipes. You can hear it miles away always on or near the Rev limiter being driven like a tt 95% of the time.

Thing is a nice 300bhp car would muller it on anything other than a straight road.

It's never a BMW drivers fault, just like all the BMW's you see submerged in 3ft high flood water. It's the cars fault, BMW drivers are gods.

Like everyone else, BMW build what some people desire.

Doesn't matter that it's a stupid idea. Just looks good bro. Innit!
