I wondered that, too.

I’m interested in what your#1 choice would be?
With me not being a fan of electric and only 2 pedals I have a choice of pretty much nothing in 2019. While its not new the 5 Litre Mustang does really appeal to me though, and it has most of the ingredients that I really like.

It looks all out of proportion due to golf clubs

You know when you think you've seen something and you take a second look? I did read right didn't I? £72,000 for a Renault?

Funny. In fact it's £51k. There was only one at £72k and it sold straight away. Adjusted for £ fluctuation it's actually the same price as the Mk3 R. But if the badge is more important than the driving experience then I totally see your point.

It's not necessarily the badge, you can slice it whatever way you want to whether it's £51k or £72k, that amount of money for a Mégane is ridiculous, and i am fairly sure i won't be the only one who thinks that.

I think the Corvette is a real life hero car with pricing from 60k.

I am sure there will be others too indeed, particularly if they haven't driven it. It would be interesting to hear what new daily road car you would buy instead with that level of track capability for £50k and a 3 year warranty that includes track use. The only one I can think of is the M2 Comp but that won't take as much serious track abuse mainly due to the fact it is 400kg heavier.
Lotus would be another option but not really that pleasant on the way to the Ring or Spa or even just Silverstone for that matter (unless you live in MK).

As I dont really enjoy automated cars it would have to be the megane for me even if it was the lesser version for £30 grand

That is kind of my point, is the Trophy R version worth at least £20k more? Some would argue yes, but i would argue at the same time would the average driver with a more money to spend get the best out of the better version?

Unless you spend most of your day to day life on the track (unlikely) then surely the £30k one is more than enough for anyone?

Stand to be corrected on my personal view, always like a debate and other people's opinions.

I think you’ve accidentally duplicated the Ferrari and Corvette photos.

I couldn't agree with you more about value - I paid £26K for a new Cup 280 and that is ideal/cheap for me for 5/6 track days a year and 5 seats. But I am also aware that there is a chasm in track capability (and particularly endurance) between it and the R.

Others will have different needs and budgets (without having to live on a track), hence the fact that Renault Sport offer a range.

The x32 UK Rs have sold so they clearly priced them well, even "for a Renault" and particularly in light of the cost of R&D, testing and homologation that has to be amortised on such a small run (x400 worldwide in total).

Why? Renault have been in F1 for a number of years and a great engine supplier. Their RenaultSport cars are arguably the best FWD cars available. Harry Metcalfe once said a Lamborghini Gallardo couldn't keep up with a Clio 182 with the Gallardo driver actually trying.

Yes, they make bread and butter cars, but were not talking about those.
But we are.... we certainly are, I think my delight stems from the fact we are talking about bread and butter cars, the Megane is just that except in this instance elevated into the company of pedigree supercars. It is utterly irrelevant but it delights me.

My thoughts as well, whilst I appreciate these super cars for what they are I thought more of the real world stuff would have made into this list, the A110 gets great reviews and I thought the S would certainly have been the icing on the cake!

The new Jimny is clearly the best car of 2019.

The title of the article is "PH 2019 / Favourite Car Of The Year"

Supercars or not and price high or low are nothing to do with the chosen cars.

I'm guessing that I've not got that much to choose from though because everything is either electric or has only 2 pedals now. frown
Nicely put - that is why I can't get excited about any new cars! And I can't afford any of the more exciting options anyway. laugh

Still I have high hopes for the BMW Z4M Coupe I bought last week - N/A engine, RWD, manual and an LSD.
