You guys do know that Alfa put this engine in an AWD, estate-shaped car they make, right?
If you mean the Stelvio....not a fan.

Loses a huge amount in the looks department and am also not a fan of "sporty" 4x4s...smile
Completely agree.

I spent a few days and 400 miles in a Stelvio QF before Christmas, phoenomenal drivetrain but it it just doesn’t work in the SUV body. It crashed along the road horrifically in any mode other than a on the DNA system which then dulls the engine down and you may as well be in the Veloce.

Granted in Race mode it is savage, the transmission rips through the gears whilst the exhaust farts and pops away on the upshifts and the brakes are hugely powerful!

The suspension is completely independently adjustable regardless of DNA mode. Just press the little damper button in the middle of the dial to turn it down a notch. N and A have the same soft setting. But you can have that in D too. And Race can be dialed down to hard.
So if you like the noise and savagery, stick it in D and press the damper button to soften it up.

Typical Alfa.

Lovely car, financial suicide.
Really?
I presume you never owned one. I’ve had 4, still got 2 now.

First bought £2100, 3 years 45k miles more sold 1500
Next bought 10k, sold 8 months later, 10k
Next bought for 4K in 2012, still got it added 30k now worth 11k
Next bought 18 months ago for 5k, worth 4.5k now.

Bought a BMW330i once for 23k, had it 6 years and got 7.5k back.

Think I’ll stick with Alfa’s.
Try buying a new one.
Doesn't look like you have had one at all..
True, they are lovely cars, but financial suicide for the first owner hence I tend to look elsewhere. If this changed, I would have one in a flash.
This is a thread about a second hand one...

I remember a number of reviewers being completely smitten by it and some calling it the most sporty SUV on the market (even more so than the equivalent Macan), and I know as a family car that it'll work a lot better, but the Giulia just looks so much more special.
First time seeing one coming towards it looked properly low and wide, really imposing.

I’d agree with that statement, it’s impressive even in Dynamic mode let alone Race but spending 5 hours being jiggled around on the M4/25 made me think it’s not quite suitable for that kind of journey. With the state of many other A and B roads it’s hard to picture where you’d make the most of its capabilities.

Do you think that's relative to the expectations of an SUV? Or absolute?

In other words: would you mind that sort of ride in a hot hatch? Is it worse or on par with the Giulia QV?

I had a lengthy test drive of one when they first came out.
At the time I had an F80 M3, so drove them back to back.

Had I been able to at the time, I’d have left the M3 at the dealer and driven home in the Alfa.

Circumstances changed and I never got to buy one (had a 4C though, and nothing went wrong..) but now I’m almost convinced I need one of these.
Currently in an M2 Comp, and it really isn’t lighting my fire - in fact, I’m finding it almost as dull as the 996 turbo I once had...

I think this summer may be the time to jump into the Alfa, although the newer models seem to have rather high suspension and can look a tad odd.

Suspension can be dropped by your dealer for free at your request. There's a service bulletin for it.

That’s very interesting, thanks.

A real shame there’s no word on the coupé happening. If it looked like this https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/alfa-r... it would have been amazing!

Give it another 12 months and you'll see well under £20k..
A bit of a thread necro as I read up on the QV. Values seem to be strong. There are eight 2017/18 cars on PH and the cheapest is £37k. That's excellent compared to the Germans.

Is the QV slowly gaining more mainstream acceptance?

BMW are yet to catch up with the driving dynamics and bhp and the MY21 M3 looks like it's been sicked up by a cow after a visit through half a dozen stomachs.
The Qv hasn't had any major reliability issues, as was predicted by the doom mongers.
Giulia's are a rare sight, let alone a Qv. If you want exclusivity it's the way to go.
My 3 year old car has had a harder life than most and still looks and feels like it was built yesterday.

Quite possibly, like the 4C - seen the prices gradually rising and the amount of cars for sale declining.

It's not like Andy to get car values horribly wrong. laugh

I'm sure he'll sell them for £20k from his garage. laugh
