I’m sure the UK price will be a fair bit less, cars are really expensive in Germany.
Here’s a 2.0TDi Arteon in Germany for €73,000...

It's a mix - cars are slightly more expensive in Germany, but also cheaper in the UK (compared to the rest of Europe). Also that model you linked is the 2.0TDI 4-motion 240PS, and has a German list price of €56535 (UK list is £41390, which is a ludicrous exchange rate), and all the extras are simply added on to give the dealer asking price. It has a lot of extras. Here’s a 2.0TDi Arteon in Germany for €73,000...

Also it looks like they've finally dropped the 1.5 3cyl petrol engine from the range (maybe not news) and there's a 'shooting brake' version coming later this year. Yay!
Genuinely ridiculous price but I'm guessing it'll still be discounted, even thought it's a limited edition.
I have all of that on my Arteon, and a lot more, save the undercoat spray job and it cost a fraction of that. (Mine's here).

However, it's good to see less chrome. Mine has already been quoted (last year) to be de-chromed (it'll also include the exhaust trims and rear ARTEON lettering on the boot), but I'm having the alloys redone in Silver, as I've never really got on with the Graphite alloys.
I wonder if this one will have less rattles and creaks than mine

I really like the Arteon, as the article says it's a refreshing change to electrified crossovers. I think that's an attractive proposition as a fast-ish petrol and the list price is largely irrelevant - anybody mad enough to pay cash would get a decent discount but most will be on finance.
It's not a very pistonheads car granted, but not everybody wants to drift their way to work doing 20mpg for 15,000 miles a year.
My only issue is the paint - what's the obsession these days with Airfix grey?!

I'd hold out for the incoming R model with 330bhp output.
Has that been confirmed, or just wishful thinking?I've always thought that VW don't do the Arteon justice. I'm not offended by the shape, but this car is really crying out for an `R` version. Make the front and rear bumpers more aggressive. Sligtly lowered with a new wheel design. Set of Golf R seats in it.
Then just AWD and 300-340 bhp, and it'd be a winner. VW's own S4

I've seen quite a few outlets reporting spy-shots now so it's very much likely (usually factory tip offs!). Some are reporting 330 bhp (mk8 Golf R Levels) and others reporting closer to 400bhp. If you consider it's 'warm' saloon competition such as the 340i (369hp 6 cylinder turbo), C43 (385hp V6 turbo) and even cheaper ones like the Stinger GT(365hp V6 turbo) then VW will want to put output closer to 400 to make it's 4 cylinder more attractive it's typically larger capacity marketplace.
Sure does make the existing 2.0 270hp Arteon's for £20k look like great value if you remap them. It'll be the same drivetrain after all.
I had an Arteon R for 6 months, through my wife's work scheme. I quite enjoyed the pace of it, it was almost a second quicker to 62mph than my previous x2 Golf GTI's, but it didn't feel that quick.
I enjoyed my temporary ownership, but ultimately it was rather mundane and I wouldn't actually buy one with my own money. I would a Golf GTI though :-)
