I’d much prefer one of these over a Fiesta.

When they first came out a red 3 door pulled up in front of me at a motorway services, the door opened and out a slid a lady with the most amazing legs and arse I’ve ever seen.

I’m a fan.
This is why I bloody love pistonheads. 👍

Back on topic. VW are just making a mock of UK customers. Not only this but the price of spare parts is now just ridiculous. I spent £24 on five bloody small bolts a few days ago. Walked into the parts department with a huge sign on my front saying MUG. And you’d be a MuG to by a new UP Gti now also.

Great car, love mine. Got an early one (March 18) and now done 27k miles in it and only just had new front tyres ... and it spends a lot of its life sliding round MIlton Keynes roundabouts.

I’m planning on swapping to a Model 3 Performance soon, but worried i’ll miss it.

Still the higher new price will help my resale value!

I have a bog standard 59hp model and it's brilliant, best 'family car I've owned. Great to drive, feels way bigger on the inside than it has any right to.

Not hard to see why the warm version is generating rave reviews.
I’ve the Skoda 59bhp version, 5 door. As said, it’s. A great drive. Part of the appeal is the lack of power, planning ahead and keeping momentum compensate.

It’s 18295€ in Germany, which funnily enough is near enough exactly the same as it is in the UK. Again, the UK isn’t exclusive in seeing a price rise.

Is it just me, or is the "search classifieds for an Up GTI" totally broken?

Of the 230+ cars returned as Up! GTIs, two are actually GTIs, the rest are regular Ups or - bizarrely - Amaroks!

How do you deal with living in the UK then, because my experience is that British Caucasians tend to have rather flat bums compared to their Continental and North American counterparts (obviously for other cultures this isn't the case)

I don't see why for the same money you'd buy one of these over a Fiesta ST Line/ST Line X which handle better & have more go.
Except they're not the same money. A new Fiesta ST-Line X 140 is a gnats under £20K. Sure there are discounts, but...

And back in 1987 I was moved to buy a new Golf GTi 16v after watching the (then) gorgeous Paula Hamilton in the famous "If only everything in life was as reliable as a Volkswagen" ad...

I was all set to get one as my Scirocco lease finishes mid April. However, at that price increase and lack of dealer contribution (plus apr %) I think I’ll be looking for something else. It sold really well first time round precisely because of the price. Shame, but think VW have missed a trick here.

Indeed, that's why it's such a nice trouser stirring moment when you come across it (fnaar) due to the rarity of a good instance of it here biggrin

Took an UP! GTI for a test drive, it didn't feel that amazing to me. Now getting a new Swift Sport, which is more expensive but it felt a lot more accomplished IMO.

I think its bit unfair to do a direct comparison to a Swift when it comes to power and performance. The Swift has 1.4 litres and around 25hp more. Ugly as sin though but I digress....

Seems to me that maybe VW were losing money on the first run not realising it would be such a big hit. now theyve cottoned on maybe its a case of sod selling them at the lower price lets jack it up.

If thats not the case then it does smack of shear greed. Its more than a 2k increase actually. No extra kit or rear disc brakes and no more power.

Its greatest appeal that I sensed was its fabulous base list price. Now it doesnt look quite as great. I dont think this batch will shift at quite the same speed.

I know there were zero discounts before - will this be the case on batch 2 or could you negotiate it down towards the original price?

Isnt this model of Up also at the end of its life cycle ready for a new Up model?

I'm seriously considering one of these as a fun station car, big downsize having new job with hardly any commute and no more prams to lug about.

Anything else to consider besides Swift Sport?

They're the same money with discounts & the UP is not being discounted at the moment it makes them competitors price wise.

I got a 125 Ecoboost ST Line last year as a runaround/commuter. We’re on the Ford scheme which gives us better deals than retail, but it’s not a huge difference. At £170 a month with zero deposit and 1.2% APR it was a no brainer. If I kept it the full for years, the interest charge in the loan is £450! Thing that surprised me is that I rather enjoy it, although I might push the boat out and get an ST next time.

I think the retail deals are similar. I saw £220 a month for an ST Line with similar APR on their online sales site.

Cheeky. Maybe as their EV sales take off the price can reduce slightly. It will be interesting to see if they charge the extra on the mk8 Golf GTi and R.
